Stead Bristol City Move Off
Stead Bristol City Move Off
Wednesday, 28th Jul 2010 12:53

Striker Jon Stead is reported to have turned down his proposed move to Bristol City. The former England U21 international was due at Ashton Gate for talks yesterday with the clubs believed to have agreed a £200,000 fee.

Earlier in the summer Stead was expected to join former loan club Coventry City but that move collapsed after manager Chris Coleman was sacked.

Think this illustrates the level of wages town are paying these guys and how we desperately need to move them on before paying prob the same wage but to better players

Lets hope Garvan rejects his deal! I hope he decides to stay around until we get a new manager

From steads point of view he must feel he has a chance at ipswich with connor wickham injured now.

Good, with Wickham injured we need him! He is a good player, he played well before his suspension, Keane just forgot about him which was not good managment and needs to learn that he needs to help the playrs not just play them, like Burley does. A good player IMO but he splits opinion. But we need strikers.

He has a chance, but will he enjoy it?

Didn't have Stead down as someone willing to sit on their contract and get paid even if it means not playing reguarly.

Look on the bright side, with Wickham out for 6 weeks, stead is probly the best striker we have to replace him. On his day stead can be a very good striker and is more than capable to scoring goals for us next season. I would love to see Micheal Chopra here but at the moment does not look like it is going to happen, so we either have to gamble on another striker or stick with what we have.

We need people to get behind the team not moaning about them all the time

COYB have the faith people

We do need Stead at the moment.

This is probably due to the fact he has a newborn baby and his missus has just settled in Suffolk. He must be on a fair whack as well.

As I stated before Stead is the only one of the 8 listed that I would like to keep around. And indeed he may be our lucky charm in the first games. We saw Connor is injured so practically we don't have a striker - Counago is bad, Priskin is worse and Walters is good from behind. The only negative is that we may not empty a space for a new addition and as ramseyn pointed out it seems our wages are kind of big even for players that doesn't worth it. Let's hope we manage to sell Garvan and loan out Lisbie, and may be there is still a chance for Bruce to join Sheff. Utd...

There is obviously something serious wrong with how the club is operating at present. We seem to lack any sort of knowledge at buying or selling players. Simon Clegg has never been at a football club before and has been in charge of buying and selling players. He was given the task of getting rid of as many players as possible (from those 8 made available) by the start of pre season. He came out saying he was confident he can do this. He hasnt even managed one and we are a week and a half away from the start of the season. Whats going on?! Maybe its him that needs to be sacked!

Come on Town Prioritise -Keane was going on about how we needed to improve from last season, by scoring goals. Signing a quality striker he was saying. Surely you would prioritise by signing a striker or two first before anything else? Great so what do we do? Try and sign a keeper and waste time swapping the defenders around!

Some one please help me with this! whats going on?!

Any chance of some good news???
Let's face it, Chops aint coming, neither is the keeper by the looks of it, Garvs is off to Palace, Wickham is out for up to six weeks, we might just sign a 34 year old Left back who was good four years ago, and to cap it all off the club are charging stupid money for watching us get ripped apart by West Ham!!
Im not looking foward to this next season one bit! Mid table at the very best.
Not good enough, Evans, Clegg & Keane, Show some guts and ambition ITFC or loose even more fans!!!!!

Bizman has it right, I've been saying for a while this isn't cleggs trade. I believe he may be the reason for all this malarky.

a couple of days ago it looked like keane had offloaded several players but now one by one they are all falling through is this a serious case of premature evacution by keane ?

Bizman I could not agree more with your comments. This club is a shambles at the monent.

Get a life people, the only reason it's fallen through is coz Leeds or someone have come in and offered more money.....he's still on his way. In the next day or two he will be linked to someone else.
Wouldn't be surprised if he went to Scunthorpe now!!!!

I'm with GlennPennyfather on this...would rather keep these players and bring in a decent manager to manage them.

A wise man one said that money can't buy happiness and that man was right.
I'm sure we are worse off with Evans money. We have a manager on a big contract but even that i'm not Keanes biggest fan. What this club needs is a man who has good contacts, scouts which can find hidden gems, which a talent of wheeler dealing, but the main thing is someone how understands tatics. I really think Simon Clegg is the one who should get the axe. What do we pay him for???And we would save a bunch of cash.

I am with Glennpennyfather also, get a manager who can get the best out of our capable championship players that we aready have .
And Tractorroy1 you can tell by your name about your football knowledge always siding with a manager who has achieved nothing at ipswich taking over an apparantly crap team with crap players and some how making us worse whilst spending large amounts of money on a number of flops .
Would rather have Stead starting for us this season than Priskin and Garvan in the centre with Leadbitter or on the left ahead of Martin
