Boss Roy Keane had good and bad news after Mark Kennedy and Carlos Edwards underwent scans on the injuries they suffered in the 3-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday. Edwards will be back sooner than expected having picked up a groin problem, but Kennedy will be sidelined for longer than had been hoped with his hamstring strain.

Keane said: “Kennedy is out for two or three weeks. The news on Carlos is that he’s the least serious one, the reverse of what we thought, so he might be out for 10 days, but you can forget about the weekend.”

Meanwhile, skipper Jon Walters reported sick with a virus on Tuesday morning, which was why he missed the Exeter game, while Troy Brown will under go a scan on the injury he suffered during the second half on Wednesday.

Keane also confirmed that Tamás Priskin will remain with the Hungary squad playing England at Wembley on Wednesday, despite suffering an ankle injury in the Boro game.

Why is it always a virus when footballers are sick?

John Walters needs to go and get himself to a bloody doctor! He seems to have the worst immune system ever. Is that 3 Viruses now since the start of preseason?

Walters Viruses...
It probably due to the being exposed to "Transfer Talk" someone coughed this in his face and its left him very weak and now he is susceptible.
The only cure is to leave the club and go where this latest Virus isn't currently present, possibly Stoke on Trent would improve this condition with its healthier financial environment?

Walters present home may be in urgent need of fumigation if it is diagnosed 'contagious' as locals to his living area could soon catch it an we could have a plague of unmeasurable proportions to contend with.

Strange to think that no other club player seems to get affected by it also, Jon Stead for instance, which in itself must be such a blessing to Roy Keane considering the injury crisis and down to Bare Bones.

there's more value in Walters if he isn't cup-tied (and as he's pretty much be a fringe player at Stoke, League Cup run would be one he'd be a definite starter for)

BLUEBEAT.... Its not like the Champions League. I really dont think that any value is attributed to being available for the League Cup.

A mate of mine reckons that every time a doctor diagnoses a 'virus' he (or she) should have £10 knocked off their wages.

Oh dear. I lived on the outskirts of Stoke for 16 years. Not the place to live if you're prone to picking up a "virus" or two. JW will be lucky to play a game at Stoke, he'll be sick all the time.

to be honest with OConnor at left back (as long as recovered from cramp last night) i would rather it was this way around we will miss Edwards creativity more, as long as he keeps up the performance he has given so far in pre season and saturday....... so ten days thats next saturday?? Civelli was out for up to 2 weeks which is up around now so does that mean he is back to training??

Real shame about Kennedy - typical of our luck with players so far this season! Kennedy can take a mean set piece. Will be missed.
