Wright Linked With Blackpool
Wright Linked With Blackpool
Friday, 27th Aug 2010 09:33

Former Town keeper Richard Wright has been linked with Premier League new boys Blackpool. Wright, released by the Blues in May, has been training with Crystal Palace since the start of pre-season.

Palace had previously been linked with a deal for Wright if current keeper Julian Speroni were to move on, while Middlesbrough were also claimed to be interested in the 32-year-old.

Elsewhere, reports in South Wales claim Swansea could still make a move for Blues striker Tamás Priskin. Swans manager Brendan Rodgers was Priskin’s boss at Watford during the Hungarian’s most successful spell in English football and is understood to have made a £400,000 offer for the 23-year-old earlier in the transfer window.

Meanwhile the police have warned supporters about the increasing number of flares appearing on Town away terraces of late, including at Crystal Palace last week.

Suffolk Constabulary’s football intelligence officer PC Marc Norman said: “These items are not permitted inside football stadiums for very good reasons.

“They pose a serious threat to public safety and I urge anyone thinking of taking such an item into a stadium, particularly Portman Road, to think twice.”

I doubt they can afford his wages.

Re Priskin - clearly if we are not bringing in anymore permanent players, we can not afford to lose him - even if he is fairly poor!

Surprised no one has snapped Wright up yet, can only imagine his wage demands are fairly high otherwise he would have fixed himself up with a club by now-be surprised if Blackpool couldnt afford Steads wages that they could afford Wrights.

As for Priskin, maybe if the right offer came in then we could do a deal-I would take around the £750k mark for him and take a loss, I like to give players the benefit of the doubt but I just cant see it happening at Ipswich for Tamas, cash in if we can.

Thought that he would have found another club by now. Only 32 so he has a few more years left as yet!

Definitely don't accept £400k for Priskin. There's no time for a replacement. Sell in January for £800k if we must, but I think he'll come good. He's looking much more like the player we thought we bought last season.

Wright can still do a job in the top flight - will leak goals for Blackpool, but will also be a game saver in others! Still think we should have kept hold of him but wages were obviously the stumbling block.

Bleedblue - Who is the guy in your photo?

And as for the numpty with the flares, he was even too thick to set them off properly!!

We need to keep Priskin, he is doing a job and we dont have the numbers to get rid of another striker.

I'm not sure Wright would cope at premier league level anymore but fair play to him if he can find a club. He was a good servant to us 10 years ago.

There is no way we can even think about selling priskin unless we have a def replacement lined up first and then not at 400k!!!!
