Warnock Looking Forward to Portman Road Atmosphere
Warnock Looking Forward to Portman Road Atmosphere

QPR boss Neil Warnock says he’s looking forward to experiencing the Portman Road atmosphere when his side visits Suffolk tonight. Warnock, who wasn’t always a favourite of the Town support or players during his time as manager at Sheffield United, says he is a big fan of Blues boss Roy Keane.

Warnock said: “Ipswich under lights, a decent 20,000 crowd, it's always a great atmosphere, this one. Of course we're going for it but obviously there will be bad results along the way.

“I've always had time for Roy. He tells it like it is and is an easy target when asked about Manchester United and Ireland, but he doesn't duck away from anything. Now he's got his team undefeated and they are looking like one of the outfits to beat if you want to get promotion.”

The R’s boss has added Kyle Walker on loan from Spurs after right-backs Bradley Orr and Peter Ramage suffered injuries and Warnock says Harry Redknapp has done him a favour in loaning him the former Blade: “Harry has really helped us out. It was great to see Kyle progress at Sheffield United before I left and play for England's U21s.

“It's great we can attract the calibre of lad who can play full-back, centre half and central midfield.”

Warnock is still without deadline day signing Rob Hulse as the striker has an achilles injury.

Meanwhile, Blues frontman Tamás Priskin says he enjoyed his time on loan at Loftus Road last season: "It was a very good opportunity for me to go there and play football every week.

"I didn't play as many games as I wanted to at Ipswich during the first half of the season and I needed to get out and play and QPR gave me that chance. It was good for me there."

Priskin says his temporary club, for whom he scored once in 13 games, are likely to be amongst the major contenders come May: "They have a very good squad. They have bought more players in the summer and they have started the season well.

"Neil Warnock is a good manager, so yes, I think they will be up there challenging, but this league is very open. Many clubs will feel they have a chance of going up."

This guy is a Robbie Savage character...

If he is in your camp - He is thought of as a God
If he isn't in your camp - He is Public Enemy No.1

Every football fan likes Warnock - Deep down - COYB!!

I'm with bleedblue, I've always liked Warnock. Yes he's a bit of a panto villain, but you can't argue with what he has achieved and he is one of the most commited managers around. Characters like Warnock are good for the game. I'm looking forward to a really lively game tonight, lets hope we get out and at em early.

Yeah, I've no problem with Warnock. He's passionate - that's good.

And I remember him being full of praise for our team and our supporters on that amazing day that we mourned Dale Roberts and overturned a 2-0 defecit, with ten men, to beat his Sheffield United team. He could have been right grumpy that day, but he was incredibly gracious in defeat.

I may be wrong, but wasn't there an occasion a few seasons back when we thumped Sheffield United 5-1 and Warnock, famously, said after the game "That's the last time I go to Portman Road and try to play football!" Classic.

I'll never forget when we were beating one of his teams 1-0 and we constantly asked him what the score was. When they equalised late on here definitely told us what the score was then.

Priceless bloke. Always honest and stands by his opinion.

Remember the game where the blades were 2-0 up and we turned it around 3-2, I think that was the game where we adopted the Tom Hark song off their fans!

Yes Wadz... you are bang right. That was one of the great moments in recent history at PR.
I do like to hear him moan and whinge (about other teams). wish there were more characters like him in the game. There are far too many who just say the mundain at every press conf.
4-2 town, coming back from 0-2 down, that'll do me, shame i've got to drive to York tonight though, still Radio until the A1 will have to do!

I agree with bleedblue, he is certainly a character love or loath him ,and he gets players playing. As for your post James1989, first time noticed you on here ,if thats your standard, hope its the last ,please dont feel compelled to follow Town your kind do nothing to enhance the Club. That said you probably dont go to matches anyway, and just come on here to prove to everyone you have a void space between your ears . Sad .
