Northern Irish U17 interational Josh Carson netted twice as Town’s U18s beat Reading 4-3 in a pulsating encounter at Playford Road this morning. Both sides ended the game with 10 men, while Blues keeper Cody Cropper was stretchered off after being knocked unconscious.

Northern Ireland U17 international midfielder Cormac Burke and Norwegian defender Nicolay Schrøder netted the other two goals for the Blues, who were victorious for the first time this season.

Another of Town’s Northern Ireland U17 caps, defender Rory McKeown was red-carded deep into injury time for a reckless challenge soon after Cropper had been stretchered off. The Royals had also been reduced to 10 men. Town’s U16s lost 2-0 to the same opposition.

U18s: Cody Cropper (Conor O’Donnell 90), Callum Bennett, Rory McKeown, Aaron Jones, Joshua Meekings, Nicolay Schrøder, Cormac Burke, Elliot Scotcher, Caolan Lavery, Joshua Carson, Carel Tiofack (Jideofo Maduako 71). Unused: Lewis Acott, Jack Simmons, Byron Lawrence.
