Carling Cup Discount for Season Ticket Holders
Carling Cup Discount for Season Ticket Holders
Wednesday, 29th Sep 2010 20:04

Town’s adult season ticket holders will pay £2.50 less than non-season ticket holders for their seats at the Blues' home Carling Cup fourth round tie against Northampton on Tuesday 26th October (KO 7.45pm). Adult season ticket holders will be charged £17.50, while adult non-season ticket holders will pay £20 if they buy their tickets in advance.

In addition to the £17.50 price for adult season ticket holders, the club are charging season ticket-holding concessions and over-60s £12.50 and under-16s £3. Season ticket holders are also able to buy additional seats for under-16s for £3 as long as one of the under-16s in the group is a season ticket holder.

For those without season tickets, the equivalent prices are £15 for concessions and over-60s and £5 for under-16s. All prices rise on matchday, to £23 for adults, £18 for concessions and over-60s and £8 for under-16s.

The last meeting between Town and Northampton, who beat Liverpool at Anfield on penalties in the last round, was in the 1987/88 season, also in the League Cup, on that occasion at the second round stage.

The Cobblers, who have been allocated 4,000 tickets for this year's game, came away from the first leg at Portman Road with a 1-1 draw, Romeo Zondervan having scored for the Blues, but Town won at the County Ground, Mich D’Avray (2), Graham Harbey and David Lowe netting for John Duncan’s men in a game which went to extra time.

In the 1977/78 season the Blues won another second round tie, Trevor Whymark (2), Eric Gates, Paul Mariner and Clive Woods scoring the goals.

Overall, the Blues have won 11 games between the teams (nine in the league), 10 (seven) have been draws with Northampton winning 10 (10).

Blues boss Roy Keane previously came up against the Cobblers in the same competition in 2008 when manager at Sunderland, his side winning the tie at the Stadium of Light on penalties after a 2-2 draw having come from two goals behind.

WordUp- League wise, PR is now considered one of the The most expensive grounds to attend as an away fan. 33 notes.

Every 4 years, we as a country whine (Ferguson & Wegner have been rightly complaining every yea,r for years) that we play too much football in this country. Yet, despite teams fielding weakened sides in the FA, let alone the very weakened sides that get put out in the League cup, it persists. Axe this cup, it will help out the FA cup in the long run, and stop being run by money.

As for the ticket reductions. Insuffcient.

This is pretty much a repeat of the prices for the pre season friendlies... they obviously havent learned .... Season Ticket holders need to be looked after a bit better than this....

A very muted "woohoo" from me, but saying that, enough of a reduction to change a definite NO to a probable YES.

Bring on the Cobblers!

There's no pleasing some people. At last - season ticket holders benefit... well done Mr Clegg. The average Div 2 game costs more than £15, to sit in an old relic of a ground, so this is well priced.

If you can't afford it, or won't go... GOOD! Sit on here and moan about how little cash we have to spend on players. t1t5

HEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we win this game we are in the last 8 of a cup competition.

There is a discount there on the table, take it and shout the lads in to the last 8.

This has to be a no brainer surely???

This doesn't make sense. A tenner for adults and a quid for kids would be a lot more sensible and might actually help fill the ground. Lost opportunity in my book. Of course, I'll be there. But that's not the point.

cant believe how many shortsighted F***wits there are on this thread!
unbelievable!!!..stay at home then, lets not have any atmosphere..let the 4,000 or so Northampton fans make it seem like a home game..maybe we'll even lose..and then you can all then moan about how sh*t we are too...
HOW LONG IS IT SINCE WEVE BEEN IN THE QUARTERS OF ANYTHING???????

All you moaners make me laugh! You wouldn't be moaning if you paid £17.50 for town entertaining the gunners or Utd?

You pay to watch YOUR HOME TEAM!!

I don't think £20 is a particularly huge price for a last 16 cup game, but I think a £2.50 discount for season ticket holders is desultory. If I were a season ticket holder, obviously I'd take a free £2.50, but it seems more of an insult than had they not bothered at all. £17.50 to see Northampton is still fairly expensive when you've paid many hundreds to see Town at home for 23 games.

Incidentally, to all those who say that the finances are the sticking point, give this some thought:

If we only pull in 8-10,000 that evening at £20ish, and go on to lose the game, is it worth considering that had they charged £10 and pulled in 15-18,000 and the support caused us to go on and win, would the income from the quarter final game vs (potentially) Man Utd or Arsenal massively eclipse any sorts of amounts we could ever pull in against Northampton?

What is wrong with Ipswich fans, that figure is a reasonable price. Even if the club were to reduce the ticket price to £10 do you think we would get 5000 extra fans, I think not. Get on down to Portman Road and get behind the team to take us into the next round where we might play a Premier League club.

av. price £13 x 15,000 = £195,000

av. price £9 x 20,000 = £180,000

Evans is not running a charity, if you want Town to sign top players we have to get money in, the extra 5,000 highly discounted would cost money rather than make it

Here's a thought, all the players take a 50% cut and the club sells tickets at 50% - it ain't going to happen.

Got to agree with most of the posters here, lack of insight and feeling for the supporters. Should have made this game £10 adults £5 kids, cant see that there will be much more than 8,000-10,000 for this game. ITFC marketing department is a shambles, the words, piss up and brewery spring to mind. Dont think I'll bother

anybody know when the tickets go on sale to season ticket holders?

My son and I are season ticket holders, so I just phone up to buy our two tickets plus an additional ticket for my daughter. I was told that because I am also buying a ticket for a non-season ticket holder, I have to wait till October 11th. I explained that I am happy to have all three seats somewhere not occupied by season ticket holders currently (expected to move anyway), but was still told I can't buy my additional ticket yet. Surely I could have been allowed to buy them today, as a season ticket holder. Do they not want to sell tickets?!
