Town trio Caolan Lavery (pictured), Josh Carson and Rory McKeown have been named in the Northern Ireland squad for a UEFA U19 Championships qualifying round mini-tournament in Germany which starts next week. Striker Lavery recently made his first appearances for Northern Ireland having previously played for Canada, the country of his birth.

Midfielder Carson and defender McKeown joined Lavery as the Northern Irish played two friendlies in Iceland as preparation for the mini-tournament, winning them both. Town midfielder Cormac Burke was also involved in those games but isn't in the current squad.

The Northern Irish take on Switzerland on October 8th, then the hosts on October 10th and then finally Andorra on October 13th.

GiveusaWave added 23:56 - Oct 1 Been really impressed with this lot (don't really know McKeown- but Lavery and Carson have shown touches of true class so far). On his day Lavery reminds me of a young Kinkladze (always wanting to beat players and score) and Carson a young Vinnie Jones (always wanting to get stuck in). Sure McKeown must be class to be said in the same sentence as this group.
