Away FA Cup Draw No Surprise
Away FA Cup Draw No Surprise
Wednesday, 1st Dec 2010 09:41

Town manager Roy Keane said he wasn’t surprised at getting an away draw in the third round of the FA Cup having been given two successive home ties in the Carling Cup. The Blues travel to Premier League champions Chelsea for the second time in three seasons in January, their fourth successive away FA Cup tie.

Keane said: “Another away draw! We’ve had two home draws in a row [in the Carling Cup], so we weren’t going to get a hat-trick one, were we.

"That’s a long way away. They’re having a bit of a dip at the moment, although to be fair in January Lampard will be fit. I’m looking forward to that!”

The Blues boss says the game will give the coffers a boost, perhaps notably at the start of the transfer window: “You’re always looking at the finances. We didn’t really have a very good FA Cup run last year with games at Blackpool and Southampton.

“I don’t know what kind of money the club makes, but it all helps if you’re trying to add to the squad and I think, to be fair, the owner’s put a lot of money into the club over the last few years.”

should be a nice game for our new Manager to try out a few things.

But Monte Carlo simulation theory holds that each draw is a blank sheet, what went before has no influence...that's why two minor rock stars drawing the clubs they support to play each other and spice up the competition (with the lowlier club getting home advantage) is not a fix, isn't it!

I was surprised I couldn't get a ticket for the last visit to Chelsea two years ago. It'll be interesting to see if the tickets go as quickly as they did then, assuming arrangements for selling them are the same, prices are similar, and considering our current position and attitude to the manager.
