Town Dismiss Bust-Up Claim
Town Dismiss Bust-Up Claim
Tuesday, 14th Dec 2010 10:01

Town have denied a claims of a bust-up between manager Roy Keane and defender Damien Delaney.

An exchange in training had been claimed to have developed into blows with the former QPR man told he wouldn’t play for the Blues again, but a club spokesman has dismissed the story out of hand: "Ipswich Town Football Club categorically refutes the malicious suggestion that an incident took place between the manager and Damien Delaney."

Meanwhile, a source close to Delaney has made a similar denial in the Irish papers: "Damien is aware of these rumours, the club chief executive has already been onto him about them.

"He utterly refutes any suggestion that a dispute with Keane escalated to the point that they had to be pulled apart. It’s a complete joke, there’s nothing to the story."

The Ireland international has been left out of the Blues’ 18 for the two games since he returned from his one-match ban for his red card at Norwich.

Speaking on Friday, prior to the visit to Preston, Keane explained his reasons for leaving his fellow Irishman out of his squad: “Damien was suspended for the West Brom game when the team kept a clean sheet and I thought played reasonably well. I didn’t think there was any reason to change it.

“Damo had a run out in the reserves in the week and he’ll have a chance of being involved on Saturday.”

What concerns me is the fact that Delany has not even been on the bench. Keane may prefer the Brown/Smith partnership, but what happens if either one of these two get injured. So Delany should still make the bench - I cannot understand Keane's thinking on this issue.

Indeed, commenters and posters are responsible for what they post anywhere on the Internet. If they post something libellous, someone could potentially take issue with it.

Well, let's see if our witless manager picks Delaney again. If he doesn't, then this "allegation" will probably have some truth in it.

Ok thank You Phil. But just one other quick point, is it the sites admins responsibility to ensure nothing libellous is posted? I take that would lead to the commenter being banned etc.

We could potentially find ourselves in strife as well or at least requiring legal help, which would obviously not come cheap. People don't always realise what they post might lead them open to action, so we tend to remove stuff that we think might prove dodgy if it's alerted to us or we see it.

Thank You for the replys Phil, is there TWTD magazine being printed anytime soon?

So we can say that Marcus Evans runs a 'ticketing' & Hospitality agency that is working with the Irish Olympic Association in 2012

Not that much thankfully! We've stopped the paper fanzine, not enough time what with removing all the posts! No, site takes up a lot of time in general and the zine was selling fewer, so we called it a day. Sad but I think inevitable.

Why can't Keane fall out with Mystery Marcus or his bumbling assistant Cleggy?

Blackburn have just said that they have no interest in Keane becoming their next manager. I wonder why??

I think we should strongly endorse the club's statement refuting a punch-up between Delaney and Keane. It is obvious to most of us that Keane has no meaningful effect on the players that would lead to that much exertion.

Brilliantly seasonal song, Suffolk'n'Good, can we follow it up with:

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way
How we wish Roy Keane goes back to Cork today, hey

If he wanted to keep the same defence as against West Brom why did he drop Jamie Peters who in my opinion was MOTM!

Keano talking crap again

Everything he says is crap, he should be out on the training pitch trying to get some sort of response from the dross that masquerades as our team, he keeps shuffling the pack but nothing works, we have no midfield playmaker and have'nt had one for ages, what about koumas from cardiff, not playing regularly, with our midfield what chance to our forwards have, mind you they are pretty inept.

i watched the reserves play luton, iwas standing near troy brown, the two luton goals were a joke, our three back line stood like statues as the striker just walked past and scored, the 3 backs were eastman ,delaney ,oconnor all with 1st team experience, so stick with brown and smith with colback left back and peters right back ,midfield edwards, norris ,hyam townsend,up front priskin, fallon, and thats it roy, hope u read this, cant b any worse than what ur picking

There is a reason you moan about having a young inexperienced defence and then dont put your most experienced defender in the squad !!
"I didnt think there was reason to change it " what apart from dropping the best one on the night in Peters ?
And after the Swansea game when the defence were poor ,why was he not brought back then ? Kennedy came back in ?
I stated at 9.30 this morning when Fallons statement came out it was Delaney and this only backs it up

Whatever the truth or otherwise about this I am now convinced that RK's prime concern is not the success of our club. The issues he develops with players are far more important to him. 'Won't play for this club again' rings familiar, * I'm sure that personal prejudices have led to some of his more illogical decisions : David Wrights omissions, the sales of Jordan Rhodes & Owen Garvan for peanuts etc etc. The comment has also been made about RK being ME's publicity machine with his many TV appearances & on the basis that there's no such thing as bad publicity could cetainly be the reason for RK's non-dismissal.(I can't think of any other reason if its not purely financial) All of which means that none of the people running the club are interested in anything other than self-interests.
