Clegg: Town Need to Kick On Monday, 27th Dec 2010 15:26
Chief executive Simon Clegg says Town need to kick on during the second half of the season after bringing to an end the run of six successive league defeats which saw them drop into the Championship’s lower reaches.
Clegg said: “There is no axe hanging over the head of the manager, but it is time to kick on now as we are coming up to the halfway stage in the season. Everyone is focused and I’m still very excited about what we can achieve this campaign.
“We are building in the right direction, but there is further movement to go — and it’s time to move on. We are in a results-driven business and you live by results.
“You have to recognise how painful it was for everybody going through that losing run and we know what was delivered then is not what we want to see. We are looking for good times ahead and with a lot of confidence.”
Clegg reiterated that manager Roy Keane will be given money to spend during the January transfer window with the Blues boss already having targets in mind: “Roy will receive financial support from the owner. If there is someone he wants to bring in he will get backing.
“There may be players going out as you cannot increase the squad ad infinitum as that presents all sorts of challenges.”
Meanwhile, former Town striker Jordan Rhodes is claimed to be a potential target of Norwich City should they sell current frontman Grant Holt.
If Rhodes does move on, the Blues would receive a significant but undisclosed percentage of any profit Huddersfield would make on the £850,000 fee they paid for the 20-year-old in July 2009.

Retroblue - if you know anything about the game, you SHOULD know that natural goalscorers ( Rhodes IS most certainly one ) will score goals at any level. In fact the higher level you play at, the easier it can become - for obvious reasons which I will not list. JORDAN RHODES WILL KEEP SCORING GOALS - ANY GOOD MANAGER WILL KNOW THAT. - I assure you. Remember I said it.

Suffolk & Good summed it up perfectly, another load of Clegg/Club gobbledegook, actually says nothing that we did'nt already know and actually represents the one stark reality which shines out of his and the boadroom at PR, COMPLACENCY. No other club would have allowed such a complete and utter waste of money by an arrogant, incompetent manager, living on his past record as a player.

"We are building in the right direction, but there is further movement to go — and it's time to move on. We are in a results-driven business and you live by results". Can someone tell me what this actually means? Sounds like something David Brent would say.

Trying to read between the lines: 'The cup matches will boost the profile of ITFC and Marcus Evans. We have no one in mind to replace Roy Keane at the moment. I need the form to improve so that we can start to sell some season tickets for next season. I'm holding on to a crumb of comfort of one snowy win against the Foxes'.

the more i look at the table, fixtures and the sh.t we have produced the more i know we are in serious trouble and any football person knows Ipswich are in serious trouble ( i am not being doom and gloom just stating facts) i have just read a post that Norwich are looking at Rhodes? this alone should spell the end for Keane and Clegg. If it is true that Wickham and Priskin are going and we are to sign Fallon then the job of completely killing this club has been done to its upmost best by the worst manager and executive this club has ever had which just shows that if Evans is happy with that then he cant be all that as well, should be Chief executive Simon Clegg says Town need to "kick on" and he needs to "F..K OFF!!!!!!!! with Keane exiting with him"
