Striker Ronan Murray netted twice as Town’s reserves beat Norwich City 2-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Playford Road this afternoon.

The Republic of Ireland U19 international struck twice before the break with the Canaries pulling one back via a penalty in the second half.

Midfielders Jaime Peters and Luke Hyam were the only regular members of the current first team matchday squad in the side, Peters coming off 20 minutes from the end and Hyam at half-time.

Reading between the lines, it would seem the ITFC board are non too keen to allow PJ to bring in loan signings - therefore, considering how ineffective our strikers are, I would have thought to would be worth giving Murray a run in the side. He can do no worse.

Maybe the time for experiments is when we are truly safe !
I, like everybody on here, thinks that Murry is going to be good for us, but right now surely, safety first.

If he gets knocked off the ball its becasue he hasnt much experience of football at this level of intensity.
When Iv seen him (Ireland under age & few sub apps for Town) he looked hungry, eager and quick. He seems to have good composure and has very good positional sense.

In fairness to PJ, he has only been here 10 minutes and is still finding out alot about his strikers. With x3 senior strikers, he had to play them to assess them. I think he will bring Murray in to a few games from now on.

Give Ronan a go! He is scoring which breeds confidence whatever level you are playing at. Look at Drury who has taken the step up from non-league. Ronan and Wickham for Cardiff please!!

i think the difference between murray and wickham is that every time wickham has been given a chance in the first team he has stepped up to the mark! I saw ronan play towards the beginning of the season and i wasnt really too impressed, he just didnt look strong enough and fit enough to keep up with the pace of first team football. Don't get me wrong i think one day he will be a great player but i think playing him for a half is too much, he's not as good as wickham!! I'd be happy to see him play the last 10mins if we're winning a game tho, good luck to the lad!!
