Quinn Admits Town Exit Likely
Quinn Admits Town Exit Likely

Forgotten midfielder Alan Quinn has admitted that it’s unlikely that he’ll be offered a new contract by the Blues when his current terms are up this summer. The 31-year-old has missed the entire season having picked up a groin injury, which eventually required two operations, during the pre-season friendly at Leiston.

Quinn, who joined the Blues from Sheffield United for £400,000 in January 2008, says manager Paul Jewell is unlikely to extend his Portman Road stay having seen very little of him since he came to the club: "It has been difficult for the gaffer because he hasn't had a chance to see me play since he came in, so I doubt they will offer me a new contract. I'm not confident about getting any good news from them on that front.

"I'm just hoping to get a game or two in before the end of the season and see what happens in terms of Ipswich offering me something."

The former Ireland international, whose only game this season was 45 minutes of a reserves friendly in November in between his two operations, is hoping for some match action before the end of the season.

He said: "This injury has been the first in my career that has kept me out for so long, so it has been a frustrating time, but hopefully I'm over the worst now and I can concentrate on getting back playing again.

"I'm hoping to be playing for another few years yet, whether it be Championship or even dropping down to League One because I just want to be enjoying my football again.”

Again a nice guy and a decent player but he is a squad player at best Im afraid. We have good cover in midfield and PJ looks to be shaping up for a 4-4-2 next season which means competition in midfield will be more competitive. We ae well covered on wings too and (i dont like saying this) if we can save wages from Quinn and put them towards Jimmy than that would greatly help our cause.

I wish Quinny the best of luck and I know he would do a stirling job at another champ club if he noves on
