Player of the Year Voting Open
Player of the Year Voting Open
Tuesday, 26th Apr 2011 12:58

Online voting has opened for this season’s Supporters’ Club Player of the Year award. The winner will be handed his gong at the annual Players’ Awards Evening on Saturday at Greshams Sports and Social Club (6.30pm to midnight).

You can register your vote here or alternatively around the ground at Saturday’s game against Preston North End. Online voting closes on Friday.

Tickets costing £17 (including buffet) are still available for the Awards Evening from Liz Edwards by email here. The dress code is smart casual.

The event is a chance to meet the first team squad and coaching staff and see presentations to the Player of the Year, the season’s debutants and the Academy Player of the Year.

Last year's Player of the Year award went to Gareth McAuley with his central defensive partner Damien Delaney second and loan midfielder Jack Colback third. The Sunderland man picked up the Players' Player of the Year, while Tom Eastman won the Dale Roberts Trophy for the Academy Player of the Year.

Least worst award goes to probably McAuley just from Bullard. The rest along way behind. The evening should be called off and the players should do panto instead as they've been a joke this season....

Garv, it didn't give any player a kick up the backside to see Jack Colback win it last year (who was on loan from Sunderland).

McAuley should win mediocrity of the year award as he has been slightly less cr@p than all the other mediocare and attrocious players!

Bullard. Strange if it is because that's two years on the trot a loan player gets the gong! Not really where we need to be?

Probably McCaulay but really whoever wins it should be embarrassed> We have put up with so much crap from this lot this season. I'm sure Edwards will volunteer to drive the winner home

I love this thread! - it's just fantastic to see how many different spellings we can get of McAuleys sir name, other players who have done not bad and must be considered are Bollard and Piskin.
