QPR Chasing Murphy
QPR Chasing Murphy
Monday, 9th May 2011 15:32

Newly-promoted QPR are interested in signing exiting Town goalkeeper Brian Murphy as Paddy Kenny’s back-up at Loftus Road ahead of their first season back in the Premier League. Murphy left Town at the end of last week having failed to agree a new contract.

However, the former Bohemians man may not want to take on regular bench duties at this stage of his career, having turned 28 on Saturday.

The Irishman has broken into his national squad on a number of occasions but is still to win a full cap, something which he is less likely to do if he isn't playing regularly.

Championship clubs could also target the Waterford-born stopper during the close season.

Didn't add a lot to the Ipswich team so if he wants to go and sit on the bench at QPR then good luck to him.

Can't believe he's left us without another club agreed. Was expecting an announcment on his destination today, not rumours of clubs that MIGHT be interested in him. Big risk on his part surely? Obviously had been told he wouldn't be Town's first choice...

I disagree with some earlier comments. Miles better than ALB and probably no worse than Fulop. Was sorry to see him go. I don't think he ever let us down!

i agree, never let the club down, we were in a right state last year before he arrived, when he got in we got out of relegation..taut he was hard done by when fulop arrived, if not for the injury would of played the final games alb played this season and the story could of been different. best of luck murph thanks for your efforts!

a championship grade keeper who was clearly not told that fulop was on his way here in the summer. decent, but injury-prone and fulop is better

Sorry guys but I didn't think he was the worst goal-keeper in the world. Wish him well in his move. The 'irons in the fire ' must have been true, I don't think he would have left ' hoping ' someone would come in for him. Strange, good enough for QPR [ even off the bench ] but not good enough for us.
