Turkish Club Target Fülöp Wednesday, 15th Jun 2011 15:49 Town keeper Márton Fülöp is being targeted by Turkish top flight side Bursaspor. The Hungarian international only has one year left on his Blues contract, having signed from Sunderland for £750,000 last August and seems likely to move on during the close season with manager Paul Jewell looking to bring in a new senior number one.
The Bursa-based club recently targeted West Brom keeper Scott Carson but have now turned their attention to Fülöp, who has been in and out of the Town side since Jewell took over from Roy Keane in January.
Despite backing his current keepers towards the end of the season, Jewell is understood to want to bring in a new first choice this summer, having last month made an approach for Coventry’s out-of-contract Republic of Ireland international Keiren Westwood, who now appears to be on his way to Sunderland.
Arran Lee-Barrett has signed a new two-year deal and, despite being picked ahead of Fülöp for a spell towards the end of the season, looks likely to be seen as back-up rather than a regular starter. Brian Murphy opted against extending his stay and is currently looking for a new club.
Fülöp’s exit this summer has always been on the cards with Jewell keen not to allow players’ contracts to run down in the same way that David Norris’s and Gareth McAuley’s this summer.

only sell if we have a wealth of new number 1's in mind. personally i think ALB is nowhere near good enough and i was really surprised to see him sign another 2 years, and the prospect of him being the only senior 'keeper frightens me. i think persuing westwood is now pointless given how many premier league clubs have taken interest. Joe Murphy just been released from scunthorpe, he would be ideal IMO

I'm not convinced by Fulop but at the same point he's not a complete weak link. We should only sell if it's a good price and we get someone in before. After Westwood i've not seen us linked with any keepers.

He's never realy settled, so I would not be sorry to see him go.

If he won't sign a new contract we sadly have to consider selling but there's a lack of available keepers who would be better.

Hmmm. Bottom line is he's a good keeper and I would have thought that our transfer priorities lie elsewhere on the pitch. If he goes he goes, although I sincerely hope PJ has a decent replacement lined up.

Sell and target Neil Alexander from Rangers. He is not number 1 there and he was a really solid keeper for the short time we had him.

Sell him if we can get someone decent in. Obviously not Westwood - we've got no chance

Suprised Westwood is going to Sunderland, they already have Gordon and Mignolet, can't see him being picked ahead of them. Lonergan would be my choice to replace Fulop if he goes.

Pepperpot123: Neil Alexander is a great shout. Bench warmer up there and was really reliable in his time here. He owes us big time, we let him go for a bargain £500k to fulfill his dream. Is 33 now which is not old for a keeper.

Fulop must be on silly wages aswell. Ship him out while we can still get a fee and bring in a new number 1, freeing up wages for a renewed attempt to sign Bullard? Not likely i know!

Not convinced about Fulop, too many mistakes. But, there again, I don't think ALB is up to it either. What about Dean Gerken at Bristol City. He played a blinder at PR season before last.

Only sell if we get someone else in. Don't want to end up with just ALB

Why did we give a 2 year contract?? Wasting asset immediately.
loyalblue1994 added 16:51 - Jun 15
only sell if he wont sign new contract cause he is a decent keeper and only one we got that can cut it in this league with ALB clearly not being good enough. Also not many better keepers around that we will be able to attract
