Swansea Chairman Set to Hold Talks
Swansea Chairman Set to Hold Talks
Monday, 27th Jun 2011 09:02

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is set to return from his holiday today and will immediately look at holding talks with the Blues aimed at avoiding a transfer embargo. Last week, Town reported the Swans to the Premier League for non-payment of £300,000 relating to Tamás Priskin’s loan spell at the Liberty Stadium.

Jenkins reportedly aims to speak to Blues chief executive Simon Clegg today with the Welsh club believed to be confident that they will avoid any sanction from the footballing authorities.

Over the weekend, the Premier League confirmed that they had received Town’s complaint, while there were also reports that the matter would initially be passed on to the Football League as Swansea were a Championship club at the time of Priskin’s spell in Wales.

Elsewhere, midfielder Billy Clark, who was told he wouldn’t be offered new terms in April, says he aims to show that his hometown club made a mistake: “Any released player would want to prove their old club was wrong. I just hope I can one day go back to Portman Road.”

Earlier this month, TWTD revealed that the 19-year-old, who made three sub appearances for the Town first team, is set to go on trial at Sheffield United during pre-season.

froudy, how do you know Clegg has not already tried that approach several times and without reply has resorted to reporting them to the Premier League etc.?
Think carefully, who is in the wrong here, is it the club trying to wriggle out of paying what has been signed and agreed or is it the club chasing to get their agreed payment?

just thinking though thats a shed load of money for a short term loan, however much have we shelled out in recent years on loan signings that then went back, some of which were pretty poor to be honest?

He will have to pay, deal a deal, pretending not to know about it then saying he'll talk about it is fooling no one, his reputation will be damaged by this and he will have to pay. It was not a good deal for them , tough, and this is a bad way to start your prem career, onbviously he is a bit of a pratt.

well in fairness to ITFC, Priskin was injured while at Swansea.

Is it fair that we send Swansea a player out on loan and he comes back injured unable to play any games for his parent club? They cant have it both ways.

If thats the case we would have injury clauses in transfer dealings.
No Thanks!....

Hopefully this will be an end to it and ITFC will get what is rightly theirs.

i agree that they should give us our money back, if you are prepared to pay someone x amount of money then you should hand it over. however i also think that whoever negotiated that loan deal should be given a prize! 500k for 1 goal? that alone is enough to change anyone's mind on mr. clegg surely...

Froudy

You are naive if you think Clegg hasn't tried all other ways of getting Swansea to cough up. Going public is never particularly seen as business like but sometimes people need naming and shaming.

I think Froudy you just want to critisize Mr Clegg. Did you praise him when we signed Michael Chopra? I suspect you took the view that the Chief Executive had nothing whatsoever to do with an outlay of circa £1,500,000 and wages of £10,000 - £15,000 per week.
