Bullard Move Back On?
Bullard Move Back On?
Sunday, 3rd Jul 2011 10:11

Town’s attempt to sign former loanee Jimmy Bullard on a permanent basis could be back on, according to a tabloid report this morning. Manager Paul Jewell previously said that a deal to bring last season’s Player of the Year back from Hull was beyond the Blues but, as predicted by TWTD on Thursday, the large fee received for Connor Wickham may have changed that situation.

Bullard’s future is still understood to be up in the air with the 32-year-old having held talks with QPR earlier this summer but with no deal yet done.

The former Wigan, Peterborough and Fulham man was recently reported to be in talks with Hull regarding a settlement of the remaining two years of his £45,000-a-week contract which makes up 21% of the Tigers’ wage bill.

Hull are desperate to see the one-time England call-up leave on a permanent basis and so far have been unwilling to sanction another loan.

Speaking in mid-June, prior to agreeing the £8.1 million rising to £12 million fee for Connor Wickham with Sunderland, Blues boss Jewell said: “We just can’t afford to pay what Hull want and what Jimmy wants. He’s not just on a Premier League contract, he’s on a top Premier League contract.”

Bullard made 16 appearances for Town, scoring five goals, during a hugely successful loan spell between January and May.

Would be more than happy to have Bullard back, as long as we don't have to pay him "silly money" If we're going for an all out promotion bid this season then Jimmy's your man, if we are looking to build for the long term then clearly at 32 he's not got too many "good seasons" left..... I get the feeling from the players we've signed & those we've been linked with that PJ/SC/ME feel we need to have a damn good go at it this season, bring it on, can't wait!!

Depends how much hull want for him and the wages. But, both bowyer and bullard are over the age of 30 (yes, experience) but don't want to have to much do we? need some younguns in there to? And jimmys got dodgy knees

I think this is pure paper talk, puting 2+2 together because we have some money. Bullard is still premier quality and will probably be playing there next season

Get Bullard and bowyer in, the pair of them have so much experience between them it can only be good for the team chasing promotion. Bullard captain maybe?
Then once we have got the midfield sorted, start making some signings defensively to replace key players we lost due to poor management, possibly another 20 goal a season man too

It seems that the majority of you on this forum live in a dream world. Moaning about Bowyer and not even considering his footballing ability just goes to show that some of you have no clue whatsoever.

Agree with you totally bluecrossy but these are the same people that keep saying get GIO in (not a hope) we need to get real and accept the calibre of player we can attract to ITFC.
Bullard and Bowyer would both be good but would not break the bank on either.

Come on Jimmy, sign on the dotted line! I thought you would sign if a contract was put in place for you so keep to your word, and put him a decent deal on the table Paul Jewell! COYB!

Bowyer, yes please he is the type of player to get us out of this league. No nonsense tough tackler would give us some much needed grit. As he has been released a deal shouldnt be too difficult.
Bullard, no thanks. He is not worth busting the bank for. Better spend the Connor cash wisely. Lets face it he is a mercenary with dodgy knees.

Well Hull wont want much if they are that desperate to get him off the wage bill so its his wages we are looking at, its a slight risk with money but go for it, would love him back here a character and awesome player especially in the fizzy league. Bowyer would do a great job for us, not a fan of the bloke himself but a good player and free.

This would be great but we should not be held to ransom, also would be happy with bowyer. I have no problem with him, good player and has got his head down and just played footy for the last few years so lets give him a chance if he signs.

But would prefer Dyer, someone with Ipswich coursing through his veins, I know he is prone to every injury under the sun but when he plays he is such a good player. Some sort of pay and play deal.
