Old Boy Wright Training With the Blues
Old Boy Wright Training With the Blues
Friday, 8th Jul 2011 14:09

TWTD understands that former Town keeper Richard Wright is training with the Blues at Playford Road. The 33-year-old was released by Sheffield United at the end of the season and is currently looking for a new club.

Wright joined the Blades in September 2010, having been let go by Town at the end of the previous season, but made only two appearances while at Bramall Lane before a knee injury which required surgery ended his campaign early.

The one-time Arsenal, Everton and West Ham keeper’s presence at Playford Road alongside his mentor Malcolm Webster, who rejoined the Blues last week, is likely to lead to speculation that a third spell with Town might be in the offing, however, we understand that the ex-England international is only back at the club in order to get himself fit while he searches for a new team.

Buryblue, roy keane signed mark Kennedy a good experienced older head
IMHO a good player with bags of experience, but proves my point about older
Players don't you think? You cannot build a team around older players, apart from
Chopra , who have we signed in their prime so far? Answer no one.I am not being negative I am stating what I believe IMHO the facts.
Would love to eat humble pie on this as I have been a town fan for 40 years.

Ok Dissboyitfc Kennedy wasn't a bad signing, but yes a bit injury prone so does back your theory (shame he let another, not quite as old but experienced right back go at the same time though!)
I don't think this is about building for for future but building for a fight this year, which could be dangerous in that if we go up we have a team of older players who then wont be able to cope with the prem, so will there be money to replace them?
I'd still rather have an aging Bowyer on a free than an overpriced Leadbitter!
And as a holding midfielder experience is key, Boeteng will fulfill that role easily allowing the likes of Hyam to learn from him and develop.

..... all the muppets who keep agreeing to sign all the 'has beens' will see after about the first month of the season why it is not good policy to have a 'Dad's Army' squad ......... !!

The squad is being assembled as if ITFC has only limited life - and no future, other than short term.
