Town Edge Closer to Sixth and Seventh Signings
Town Edge Closer to Sixth and Seventh Signings
Monday, 25th Jul 2011 13:36

Town are edging closer to completing the signings of Fulham keeper David Stockdale and Arsenal midfielder or striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. We understand the duo are at the club this afternoon with the Blues hopeful of finalising their sixth and seventh new additions of the summer later today.

A £1.1 million fee is believed to have been agreed with the Gunners for Emmanuel-Thomas with talks and a medical taking place today.

Loanee Stockdale is set to sign on a season-long loan but with the Cottagers demanding a recall clause in case of injury time first choice Mark Schwarzer.

Town hope the pair will sign in time to feature in Tuesday’s pre-season friendly against Colchester United (KO 7.45pm).

Fans travelling to Colchester without tickets should note they need to buy one at the Ticket Office at the Weston Homes Community Stadium before they can enter via the turnstiles. A Blues following of more than 1,200 is expected to travel to the north Essex club.

The delay is now concerning , these by all accounts were shoe ins /done deals ? i fear our lack of ambition might become apparent c,mon Mr.Clegg prove me wrong or have they both failed medicals ? This begins to border on the farcical the club should issue a statement its dinner time the players will need feeding !!! So will i and the wait is making me sick along with many other supporters , at least we have real passion for our club !

Leicester City have most probs come in late for both players and swooped them away again.
We need Delaney and Smith replaced anyways, I wouldn't be too bothered if this double deals fails if we sort out ou defensive nightmare. More holes than edam our defence. Promotion strikers and midfield, relegation defence. We are only as strong as our weakest link. Bambi on Ice again.

Thanks for the link daneitfc,Does it seem to anyone else that when a player actually shows up to sign for us PR desends into mayhem so with 2 to sign it must have been chaos. Why cant it be nice and smoothe like it is for most other teams in the football league and whats happened to the Koumas story?

Really pleased with the signings pj acheived this close season. Feel he's making real strides to significantly improving the team altho agree with others on here that he MUST get centre back in. Delaneys ok but Tommy Smith is not the answer (pj must have agreed with last season as he never got a kick!) and cant see ingarmarson being ready until at least september. Once we get centre back I think we wont be far off really giving it a go next season.

if both players were in Town and ready to sign and didn,t as the paperwork was not correct/finished we are a joke . The secretary and chief executive should be removed and replaced with people who know what they are doing /trying to achieve . The players are asked to live in Ipswich has Mr. Clegg moved yet ?
i,M sad and dismayed at todays dragged out proceedings i just hope other clubs do not step in .
