Jewell Continuing Search for Signings
Jewell Continuing Search for Signings

Town manager Paul Jewell says he’s still looking to add to his squad, despite having made seven signings this summer. A central defender remains his main target, having lost Gareth McAuley, Troy Brown and Tom Eastman at the end of the last campaign and having added only Ívar Ingimarsson.

Jewell, who dismissed links with Wolves defender Richard Stearman, said: “We’re still looking. There are a couple of key areas we need to address - we need another centre-half. I’m happy with the signings we’ve made, but like every manager it’s an ongoing thing.

The Blues boss reiterated his desire to have players fighting for inclusion in his side: "We want competition for places all over the pitch and there are one or two areas where we are a bit short yet.

"Ideally we want two players for every position and that's what I have been working on. I've been trying to get in another defender over the last five or six weeks and we thought we had a couple but it's not quite happened yet, so we're still looking."

suffolkpunchdrunk- with an addition of a CB, I Think our defence will be alright. as long as Ivar keeps fit that is! Edwards would only be the downfall then imo

The missing 2 pieces are, as many people agree, a right-sided CB and Jimmy Bullard. Still waiting to see the outcome of Hull's investigations into his misconduct - got a funny feeling something will happen on Thursday or Friday.
