Sonko Deal Done

Town have confirmed the signing of central defender Ibrahima Sonko on a one-year deal. The Blues have been waiting on the completion of paperwork before formally announcing the signing of the free agent Senegalese international, who joined Paul Jewell's squad on trial on Monday.

Former Reading and Stoke man Sonko seems certain to make his Town debut when the Blues take on Leeds at Portman Road on Saturday. Fellow new signings Jimmy Bullard and Daryl Murphy will also be involved against the Whites.

Sonko, Town’s first ever Senegalese player, has been given the number 31 shirt, Bullard the 21 and Murphy 27.

eddiegrundy: unfortunately the teammate closest to him is likely to be Delaney, who tends to just hoof it up the field.

I am really excited by this signing, sounds like he has a real charachter along the same lines as jimmy, so should really liven us up on the field.

not sure if he is the right man but this position needs competent filling more urgent than signing bullard.
Lets hope that the person he partners hit it off

This is not a wind up but we (Hull City) had him on a season long loan on over £30k a week (see the pattern - JB) a season or two ago and he was possibly the worst centre half in the league. Maybe in this league he might be better but he was poor and embarrassingly turned at every opportunity. We, unfortunately for him, see him as a comedy figure now due to what we saw so it will be interesting to see how he does.

UsualSuspect - I wouldnt be surprised mate. Comical behaviour but we now seem to have finally got rid of the shackles of the previous regime now that 'Zammo' has joined you. All the best.

lexg - Was just enquiring, if she was over 30 and on a free we may have been interested. Likewise.

If he's as good as his website then we've got a future town legend on our hands.

Ok - now the season begins! I am sick of the negativity of some people, so for this reason I am asking all those who at least feel PJ has worked hard to assemble a team this summer to get behind them, agree on here, and give the Stands noise to lift the roof off and make the Leeds fans wonder what the hell has hit them!! To all players out there - go out salute the fans, kiss the badge and play your socks off - this is important to the fans, the town but most of all to the club,Bobby and Alf! COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
