Town have confirmed the signing of central defender Ibrahima Sonko on a one-year deal. The Blues have been waiting on the completion of paperwork before formally announcing the signing of the free agent Senegalese international, who joined Paul Jewell's squad on trial on Monday.

Former Reading and Stoke man Sonko seems certain to make his Town debut when the Blues take on Leeds at Portman Road on Saturday. Fellow new signings Jimmy Bullard and Daryl Murphy will also be involved against the Whites.

Sonko, Town’s first ever Senegalese player, has been given the number 31 shirt, Bullard the 21 and Murphy 27.

lexg added 13:52 - Aug 26 This is not a wind up but we (Hull City) had him on a season long loan on over £30k a week (see the pattern - JB) a season or two ago and he was possibly the worst centre half in the league. Maybe in this league he might be better but he was poor and embarrassingly turned at every opportunity. We, unfortunately for him, see him as a comedy figure now due to what we saw so it will be interesting to see how he does.
