Thomas Gaarsøe's Danish U21s beat Iceland's youngsters 4-0 last night as the weekend of international football got under way.

There are plenty of Town players in action and Jim Magilton makes his fiftieth appearance for Northern Ireland. They play in Malta today, but have no hope of World Cup qualification.

Matt Holland's Ireland need to beat Cyprus and hope that Estonia inflict a surprise defeat on Portugal. Otherwise the Irish will face a play-off against a middle-eastern runner-up.

Holland has also revealed how the World Trade Centre attacks almost hit him personally. Brother Martyn had been working at the Trade Centre a few weeks prior to the terrorist action. Sadly two of Martyn's colleagues are amongst those still listed as missing after the attack.

Amir Karic's Slovenia are the only other side with a Town player representing them who are in with a chance of qualification. They have to beat the Faroe Islands today.

Hermann Hreidarsson is in action for Iceland against Denmark.
