Murray Almost Joined Gills
Murray Almost Joined Gills

Blues boss Paul Jewell has revealed that striker Ronan Murray was close to joining League Two Gillingham on loan yesterday. The 20-year-old, who netted twice after coming on as a sub for the reserves against the Gills in Tuesday’s 8-1 behind-closed-doors hammering, was at the Priestfield Stadium before the deal fell through.

Jewell said: "Ronan was on his way to Gillingham on loan but for whatever reason that didn't happen, which was disappointing from our point of view and from Ronan's as he is desperate to go.

"He is one who needs to be playing games as he's a young kid and is desperate to prove himself.

"He isn't one to just accept that he's not in the first team and be happy just training. He wants to go somewhere on loan and prove that he can be part of a first team."

Republic of Ireland U21 international Murray, who has made one senior start and 12 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring once, spent time on loan at Torquay United last season. His Town contract runs to the end of the season.

maybe we are trying to get too much in the way of wages, that's why Priskin, Leadbitter and O'Connor are still here

I can't think that having players hanging around who either don't want to be here or are not good enough to be here helps the squad morale one bit

it's having the winning mentality that counts above almost everything else - at the moment we are far from it

cutting out a bit of 'deadwood' now, how ever much it costs, will benefit us far more than hanging it out for as long as we can to possibly get a few quid more

even with that, the sooner they go the more we can save in wages and use for better players

Drop this nagging about Leadbitter being deadwood.
He's one of our better ball players...

i hope osman hasn't bought a house in suffolk, it's only a matter of time before evans pulls the plug on the academy, he's sold the only one worth any serious money and this numpty of a manager will not even give the others a place on the bench, so why should evans waste £1m a year on it
