Premier League Duo Linked With Andrews
Premier League Duo Linked With Andrews
Tuesday, 4th Oct 2011 15:49

Premier League duo Wigan Athletic and Swansea City are reported to be keeping a close eye on loanee midfielder Keith Andrews with a view to making a move for the Irishman in January. The 31-year-old is with the Blues on a half-season loan from Blackburn.

Andrews, who has another year on his contract at Ewood Park after this season, with Town seemingly certain to want to keep him at Portman Road beyond January after a decent start to his spell which has seen him score four goals in eight starts and one sub appearance.

The former MK Dons man's move to Portman Road has always been viewed as a loan with a view to a permanent switch. However, serious interest from Premier League sides could be a threat to that happening.

Where are all the nay saying doubters!? The experienced players PJ has brought in have helped turn round the clubs fortunes, and long may it continue. Would love to make Andrews and Collins permanent in jan. Having two centre halves totally dominant in the back is a breath of fresh air and gives the rest of the team so much more confidence going forward. In Sonko we trust! COYB

imo andrews wont go to wigan cos they are already down! swansea will struggle and i noticed FOURTH kaking himself over a 2m price tag! big deal 2m is change to me the only problem would be if andrews is recalled to blackburn if keane is sacked! which i understand is that he is still the blackburn manager

This story emanted from Sky Sports and may not have much (or any) foundation to it. I'm always suspicous of the articles that start "Skysports.com understands....". Wouldn't be surprised if Martinez and Rodgers said this was not true. There's probably more danger in him going back to Blackburn.

Hi folks, Blackburn fan here. Posted when Keith signed for you, and kept an eye on how he has been doing. Seems to be doing very well, particularly on the goals front.

Its quite funny, because he has made Rovers news a bit today. This is a quote from David Dunn:

“On that subject, Keith Andrews is a top pro, works hard, a good lad around the place and sometimes these are the people you need around the club at these times.

“He was hounded out of this club, which was embarrassing.”

Sadly, that shows you the treatment he received, and I don't think the majority of "fans" would welcome him back. Interesting how he is the most in form, and highest scoring player we have on our books though! We are in absolute disarray (not just the terrible manager, but the owners too), and we will be relegated this season.

Sadly, I think he is finished at Rovers (we could really do with him just now though). He is clearly enjoying his football down there, and it seems as though the fans appreciate his efforts, which will be a big factor for him given the abuse he received.

However, I am 99.9% sure his contract isn't up until the end of next season - summer 2013.

Come on ME, fork out the dough for Andrews.

Surely he's worth the money; he's done and treat the club and fans well, he brings energy and voice to the team, his goals worth of at least a third of the points we accumulated so far, and a certain messrs trappatoni consistently pens andrews in his starting 11...

Thanks for your post. Used to work at ICI Darwen and went to a few Rovers games in the heady days of the SaS. Troubled times at your club and wish you all the best.

Andrews is a top pro and has really fitted in well here at PR. No doubt he is premiership class and clearly his face never fitted. We are really hoping we can sign him as things are looking really positive for us.

It's inevitable that other clubs will be interested in a player that's playing well.

So in some ways I'd rather have Swansea and Wigan sniffing around Andrews than not have anyone at all interested in him.

I'm more worried about Blackburn wanting him back... He won't go to a Premier side going down when he's valued in a Championship side which could be on the up. We can afford him, that was the point of the Wickham money, surely? To buy in some real, yet rather more pricey, quality!
