Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that the Blues are hopeful that midfielder Josh Carson will sign his new contract soon. The Northern Ireland international has been offered an initial two-year deal with the option of further season.

Jewell told the club site: "We have offered Josh a two-year contract, with another year on top. We're waiting to hear back from Josh and his agent but we're hopeful that a deal can be agreed pretty soon."

The Northern Ireland international’s representatives have been in talks with Town regarding new terms since the summer with his current deal up at the end of June.

Town have 14 other players who are out of contract in the summer: Grant Leadbitter, Jason Scotland, Lee Bowyer, Richard Wright, Mark Kennedy, Tommy Smith, Shane O’Connor, Carlos Edwards, Ibrahima Sonko, Luke Hyam, Tamás Priskin, Ronan Murray, Cody Cropper and Cormac Burke.

Scotland and Bowyer have options of a further season based on appearances during this campaign, which may also be the case for one or two others.

newboy - you're spot on with both your posts - and very much part the reason that this will be my very last post on here.

After 50 yrs of supporting this Club (by being there - not from the armchair) i am totally finished with this ramshackle mess - until such times it gets back to being the Club it once was - if it ever happens !!.

Again I'll be slated - but who cares anymore ? - certainly the people running the Club don't - so what chance have sensible supporters got of changing anything ?

Let us hope Carsons agent is a lot wiser and less greedy in what he feels he can get for himself ! He needs to consider what Carson needs to be best served in the future not in the agents pocket ! It would be a lot better if agents were not able to tout players about while still confirmed as a club player . They should only be permitted to go to other clubs if and when a player has been told he can go , either after negotiations have broken down or when they are not being offered a new contract ! Hope he sees sense and signs for us and keeps progressing to a great future .
