Council Confirm Rent Agreement

Ipswich Borough Council have confirmed that their dispute with the Blues over the back rent owed on Portman Road has been resolved, as first revealed by TWTD yesterday. Town will pay the £654,702 over six years or within a few weeks of the club winning promotion to the Premier League.
IBC leader David Ellesmere told the BBC: "Our annual spending is over £100 million and £650,000 is an awful lot of money for us.
"There was no way we could back down on that but we obviously wanted to do the best we could for the club.
"They are a huge asset for the town and we've always wanted to work with them as well as we can.
"We are happy. It seems a sensible compromise. We're getting the money we're owed but are not putting any undue pressure on the club."
A Town spokesman said: "We are pleased to see the conclusion of this matter."

The Late, Late Blubfest Show by horsehollerer
If you’re one of the many Town fans whose reaction to the Brentford game included assertions that the Blues have a reputation for throwing away points late in games — “Typical bloody Ipswich”, “We did this for the whole of last year, too”, “When are we ever going to learn how to close out games?” — then I’m afraid you’ve been talking nonsense.
