Town's US U20 keeper Cody Cropper made his first appearance since undergoing knee surgery in December and saved a penalty as the Blues’ U18s beat Birmingham 3-1 at home on Saturday, their first league win since November.

Town’s first goal also came from the spot, Joe Whight converting and putting the Blues in front at half-time, with Callum Bennett and Tom Winter netting in the second half.

U18s: Cropper, Hammond, October, Acott, Fowler, Thorsteinsson, Winter, Bennett, Marriott, Lawrence, Whight.

Fantastic performance by Cropper He controlled the defensive players in front of goal barking out order's to them getting them into a defensive formation in front of the 18 yard box. Also saved a Penalty. This is T

I think he could well be worth a run in the first team once McCarthy has gone back to Reading. We would have nothing to lose and get a good idea of where he is in his developement

NEWBOY Was you at the game? How did Cropper concede the penalty? Would like to know. If he did he certainly retrieved the situation with his performance.Lets not forget this was his first game since November last year. Most players would have a fear of working out for fear of further problem's occuring. Its sticks at the back of your mind and dull's your performance. He overcame this and turned in a first class performance. WELL DONE CODY CROPPER. COYB

Think all Ipswich fans should be excited more about the way young George Fowler played !!!!!!! This boy was exceptional either 14 or 15 yrs old dont know exactly but he never looked out of place. Kyle Hammond also . Yes Cody did well on the penalty but he was at fault for giving it away in first place. Both Cody and Joe Whight have been pros now for a year almost and neither stood out for me infact gone backwards.

safeashouses Strange comment regarding Cropper yes has been a pro for less than one year. Five month of this was recovering from a bad knee injury. And his first game of football since Nov last year. You made a silly remark saying Cropper and White have gone backwards, All this on one game you must be a top Manager or coach to see this in one game.Or could there be some other reason!!!!!!!! The boy fowler is U14. So he could even be 13 but guess he is probably 14. He is an incredible talent. Spotted late by the town even though he was in the PDC for a few years. Played for debenham until possibly U12 before Town took him to the academy. certainly one to watch. Tall and composed on the ball.

Yes tellitasiseeit was at the game and think you are over egging croppers performance he has come on since throwing one in his own net in the youth cup but is a long way off being first team material. And whight may have not looked his best but he is not and never has been a midfielder so cut him some slack. The U15 boys did well. But lets not get carried away next weeks game will be a different story and then everyone will slate them if they lose.

@Heathlander

the fowler lad is u14, i believe arsenal were after him. However ipswich are hiding him in the u18/16's levels to keep the poachers away. he could be a class act and one to look out for.

he has a twin brother who aint bad either. they along with a few good players at that age group where all together at the PDC a few years back.

the saturday(south suffolk league) and eastern junior alliance leagues at u14's is a very high standard which George was playing in at u11's/12's back 2 to 3 seasons ago

Nothing to lose now this season..PJ give him a run in the 1st team.

Really annoys me that we're just giving Reading's keeper experience for next season..wake up Jewell.

Cropper had a commanding game. The penalty involved him colliding with their striker. Hardly an appeal. It was dubious to say the least.
Both fowler and hammond looked composed and settled at this level .
Ipswich created loads of chances and should've have win by more , hitting the bar once .
Bhams goal came from a piece of individual skill from outside the box with Ipswich failing to close down a player late on.
Promising performance from the u18s
