No Keogh Bid So Far
No Keogh Bid So Far
Friday, 11th May 2012 09:16

Town are yet to make a bid for Coventry central defender Richard Keogh, according to reports in the West Midlands. Yesterday, Town were claimed to have lodged an offer for the former Blues Academy schoolboy and one-time Portman Road ballboy.

Despite no offer yet having been made, the 25-year-old may well be on Paul Jewell’s summer wish list, the Town manager having signalled his intention to bring in two central defenders during the close season.

Relegated Coventry insist they want to keep hold of the Harlow-born former Republic of Ireland U21 international as they look to make a quick return to the Championship. However, the cash-strapped Sky Blues concede that they will be under pressure to sell with Leeds and Cardiff also reportedly interested.

Keogh, the Sky Blues’ 2011/12 Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year, is contracted until the summer of 2013.

Leeds are interested, and no bid has been made. That's that one out the bag.

Colin Doyle and Richie Keogh would be an excellent double signing from Coventry.
£1.5-2.0mil would be a great deal for us.

oh shut up Walberswick - your constant sniping is really teadious and of no value to anyone. Add something worth reading or go away until you have something useful to say.

According to a contact in Coventry who is a "premium" season ticket holder and knows Keogh and McSheffery says Keogh is unhappy and definately doesnt want 1st div football. Coventry also in dire financial situation and need to move on about 7 players but they will fight to keep him.

Well said Urchin. The constant mindless negativity by some posters on this site is irritating me too!

Don't know much about Keogh tbh, but sounds like he has potential on paper and could be a good signing (at the right price). Would prefer Keogh to St Ledger, who would be more expensive, and hasn't really shone at this level for some time...

Well done Pj for getting your holiday out of the way. Will have more time to ponder when you get back.

Good recovery Walberswick!!

Now I'm confused ... if Tommy Smith is the player for the future and he is left footed ... why are we looking at left footed centre backs? Sorry but it is Delaney who is most urgent to replace for me with a solid and Dominant CB.

Am I missing something guys?

Have a good weekend one and all.

Delaney is a left-sided central defender too Raymond. So I guess that he might be looking at replacing him. However, seeing as he and Smith made a reasonable partnership towards the end of the season, I think it proves you don't desperately need left-footed players in left-sided central roles, same goes right-footed players in right-sided central roles.

Glad we haven't put a bid in...my mates friend is a life long Cov supporter and says he's a "pretty run of the mill" defender. Doesn't inspire me when you hear that.
