Huddersfield Release Ex-Blues Duo
Huddersfield Release Ex-Blues Duo
Tuesday, 29th May 2012 20:43

Huddersfield have released former Blues Tommy Miller and Gary Roberts, but have offered ex-Town striker Alan Lee a new deal. The trio, along with striker Jordan Rhodes, were in the Terriers side which won promotion to the Championship by beating Sheffield United 8-7 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Saturday.

Rhodes, meanwhile, continues to be linked with Fulham as well as Everton, Aston Villa and Celtic with his potential price claimed to be anywhere between £5 million and £8 million, £3.5 million having previously been mentioned as his likely cost.

The Blues are set to receive an additional top-up as a result of a promotion clause in the deal which took the Scotland international to West Yorkshire in 2009.

Town’s overall fee for Rhodes will climb above the £1 million mark if the 22-year-old striker moves on for even the lowest fees currently being touted with the Blues' sell-on understood to be somewhere around 10-12 per cent of the profit the Terriers receive.

Another ex-Town man, keeper Nick Colgan, has been named Huddersfield’s academy goalkeeping-coach having been on the bench at Wembley.

Elsewhere, one-time Blues loanee Giovani Dos Santos has been linked with a move to Swansea City with the Mexican set to hold talks about his future with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

BluJu that is called bigging up the player to get more money for the sale .Keane wanted him gone and refused to take his call when Rhodes was having doubts about going to Huddersfield .He had already contacted the mighty Priskin and needed funds .
If Keane had wanted Rhodes to stay he would still be here as simple as that

Letting Jordan go was a terrible decision, but i can't believe how much people talk about Jordan Rhodes when nobody mentions Darren Bent, we sold Bent for £2m and hes now cost teams £50m in transfer fees. Its going to be a while before Jordan Rhodes costs clubs that much.

Sign em up. Roberts can provide some good crosses while Miller hits a mean pen!

Roberts and/or Miller would be backward steps.

Will be interesting to see how Rhodes does at a higher level. Wickham did well at Championship level (proven) but not yet at PL (few chances). I hope Rhodes makes it - but as we know, Championship and PL is a big step up.

Do you think Miller knew he was going to be released when he took his penalty?

Didn't Keane sell Rhodes because he sacked his dad days before? Thats how I remember it.

He has always had a fantastic record but it si true to say time will tell if he will be able to do it at a higher level but I have he will. I know everytime I've seen him on scoresheet a tiny pain has hit me for letting him go. But who knows perhaps in 2 years time we will look back at it as good business.......but maybe not.

Anyone see Miller's shocking penalty vs Sheff utd in the P/O final? worst of the lot, other than the last pen.

All the arguments over whether Keane should recognised Rhodes potential. There is no argument in my mind that Keane was the worst manager we've ever had by a long way.
He went 14 games without a win in the championship. Manager-less teams in receivership do better.

Roberts has been wanting to go all season - Hudds would like him to stay.

Anyone who still talks about Jordan Rhodes coming back here is from another planet - the only time he will come near this Club again is to play against us.
And to the idiots who still doubt his ability, buy some books, etc; and study the game of FOOTBALL because you obviously don't even remotely understand what you are watching.
The lads a natural goalscorer, and will always be so - AND WE ONCE HAD HIM - BUT WE DIDN'T GIVE HIM A CHANCE, AND LET HIM GO.
Sounds remarkably familiar - does it not ??

Most Town fans were horrified when they heard that Keane was getting rid of Rhodes and completely lost faith in him at the time. But Clegg must shoulder much of the blame - DB, the previous CEO who knew about the club and about football would never have allowed such poor business but SC told Keane that he could only spend on Priskin if he sold a player first and Rhodes was the only player anyone wanted to buy.
