German Keeper Set for Trial
German Keeper Set for Trial
Monday, 25th Jun 2012 08:47

Bayern Munich’s third-choice keeper Maximilian Riedmüller is set to join the Blues on trial during pre-season. The 24-year-old has been a regular for Bayern’s second string for the last two years but is yet to make an appearance for the first team, although he has been on their bench.

Riedmüller was with youth sides FV Hansa Neuhausen and TSV Forstenried before playing his first senior football with SV Heimstetten in the 2007/08 season in the Bayernliga (regionalised fifth tier).

The 6ft 2in tall keeper joined Bayern in 2008 and was in and out of their second team - which plays in the German lower leagues - during his first two seasons.

Munich-born Riedmüller established himself with the reserves side in 2010/11 in 3 Liga (third tier) and as a result was handed a professional contract and a place in the senior squad.

He continued as a regular with the second team last season, captaining the side led by former German international Mehmet Scholl as they finished 14th in the Regionalliga Süd (fourth tier). Riedmüller is contracted to Bayern until June 2013 but seems likely to move on this summer.

ALB is not a good keeper. That's a fact. Not at this level. He was released by Hartlepool for god's sake. I'm 6"4 and 32 (prime age) and I reckon I could've saved as many as he did last year. He's a flapper. He knows it too. How many times did he fumble the ball. I do admit that he also pulled off some cracking saves, but if you have as many shots to stop over a season as he did then at least a couple of them are gonna be full-length dives. Probably due to bad positioning in the first place.

Now I'm not one to slate people for the sake of it, but he's awful. Even Cresswell tweeted about him "all the gear no idea". The sooner we sign up loach and maxi the better. Then it's off to secure Luke chambers and a couple of season long loans.

Hopefully a good prospect.
Personally I can't see Loach coming if he knows he might be no2 to this guy...mind you if he is keen to come back, I'd be glad to be proved wrong.
Also credit to us for scouting out there-how many championship English clubs have signed Germans in last few years? which suggests we're ahead of the game.

Let's face it he's nether going to be number 1 while neuer is there and hans Jorge butt has been a solid keeper for many years so to be third choice only behind Germany's no1 and a former german international he must be half decent and at 24 could be here for some time

Plus the Germans aren't usually bad at producing keepers are they? Especially bayern Oliver Kahn for example!!

Won't be let down by a German! they're reliable, like their cars, tanks and economy. Get him!

You don't get to 24 years old and still be at Bayern Munich if you're a mug. definitely worth a look in Europe, some really decent young players available
