Suffolk’s Olympians and torch bearers will be introduced to a Portman Road crowd expected to be around the 20,000 mark prior to Saturday’s home game against Blackburn.

Boxer Anthony Ogogo, winner of a bronze in the middleweight category, and fellow Team GB members Elena Baltacha, Harry Martin (hockey), George Pinner (hockey), Louise Jukes (handball) and 50 torch bearers will walk around the pitch 15 minutes before kick-off.

Chief executive Simon Clegg said: “I hope our fans will take their seats in time to salute the fantastic achievements of our Team GB athletes, as well as the torch bearers who were rewarded for their personal dedication by carrying the spirit of the Olympics through Suffolk.

“It will be a great opportunity for us to salute the achievements of them all and I’m sure our fans will give them a great ovation.”

The athletes and torch bearers will attend a civic reception at Suffolk County Council's Endeavour House prior to their visit to Portman Road.

No Goldie Sayers then? I was sure her name was listed as one that was going to be at the game.

Anthony Agogo used to play for Norwich, surely he can expect a bit of banter regardless of the bronze?
