Dean Bowditch and his England U16 team-mates lost 2-0 tonight against Germany at Filbert Street. Goalkeeping cock-ups from first Tom Heaton of Manchester United and then Joe Anyon of Blackburn gave the game, and the Walker's International Tournament, to the Germans.

Anyon had replaced Heaton after the Manchester United player had had a tooth removed as a German striker's knee caught him a nasty blow in the face.

Town's Bowditch was replaced on the hour as England sought to pull themselves back into the game.
