Higginbotham: No Concerns About Manager Speculation Friday, 28th Sep 2012 12:00 Danny Higginbotham was not put off joining Ipswich because of widespread speculation about the future of manager Paul Jewell. The experienced Stoke defender’s only concern was that Jewell wanted him to bolster a side with just one win from its seven league games this season. Higginbotham said: “I didn’t ask for any assurances about the manager’s future. The main thing for me was that he wanted me to come here. That was enough for me. “Ipswich made it happen so I’m here and I hope we can get the results that will turn things round.” Higginbotham, 33, also laid his cards firmly on the table and confirmed he would be interested in staying longer than the initial one-month deal agreed between the two clubs. He added: “Hopefully, come the end of the month, if the club are happy with me and I’m enjoying it, we can extend it. I’m definitely open to the idea. “The most important thing for me is to be playing football. People might say it’s a long way to go and a million miles from anywhere but at the end of the day I’ll be playing and it’s a short career. “The aim for me is to enjoy it as much as I can and to be part of a team that, hopefully, can be successful. "People may be down in the dumps and supporters unhappy at the moment but the beauty of football is that you can always rectify things if they are not going according to plan.”
