Butcher Dismisses Link
Thursday, 25th Oct 2012 16:20

Blues legend Terry Butcher says he knows nothing about speculation that he has spoken to Town regarding the management position vacated by Paul Jewell yesterday.

The Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss said: "It's one of my old clubs, the club I started playing football with, so it's nice to be mentioned in terms of that, but that's all it is, just paper talk."

Mcarthy for me,but just don't think ME will convince him,on Butch, agree he is a club legend, and if he gets it i would support him as i would Coyle or Billy Davies,But Megson for me sum up what ME thinks of Ipswich Town Football Club,a real disaster,we need a leader a no nonsense boss,i also have to agree on Matty Holland, would be perfect in a few years at our club, but not as manager this time round.
This is such a big decision on our future,is ME and Clegg capable of getting the right man in,i think it will be sooner than we all think chaps, wouldn't surprise me if it's nearly all sorted, maybe even unveiled at Home on Saturday to the crowd.

I wish people would stop saying records dont matter because Sir Bobby had a poor record before he came here, the game has changed enormously since then.
By and large if a manager has a poor record these days its cus hes a poor manager.

Surely Megson is a no go if the club go down that route then they are asking for trouble and will have no where to hide this time

mauriccio tarrico, he's the man!
I seriously wish we were replacing Clegg aswell, I just can not warm to the bloke and i think that whoever we gets the job will not fulfill his ambition if clegg is about!
the fa academy is now up and running, what are your plans Mr Sheepshanks?

Tarrico is an interesting one markyitfc.

Butch, what a player, local lad, but not quite sure he's made to be a manager at a club the size of town.

Lets not let our hearts rule our heads here, we need to get this one right or its league 1 !!

he hasnt said he is not interested. i would take butcher. NO manager is completely successful at every club its a fact of life. I want an old town player to instil passion and pride back into the club which is the main thing we need right now.

He was my hero growing up. A legend and a hero. I was gutted when he left. He may not be the best manager in the world, but part of me would just love to see him back in Ipswich Blue. A legend, a fighter, a total hero. What we could do with a CB like him right now.

Terry Butcher would be an absolute disaster of a choice.
I had the personal misfortune here in Australia to see him manage Sydney FC and turn them from Champions into no hopers. A 10 team league he finsihed 8th, the football was terrible to watch, ugly, and tactics wise he was clueless. He couldn't hack it in the A-League and now manages in the SPL with Inverness. What on earth would possess anyone to think he's going to take a 'step-up' to Championship level and lead Ipswich to the Premier League. If Evans/Clegg choose ths man I might just have to choose another club

Sometimes we need to reel in our necks and give our brains a chance to engage .
Yes Terry Butcher was not too sharpe in England as a boss ,but wasn't he learning his trade ( similiar to Jim Magilton at Ipswich ) .
I fail to see that he has done too much wrong at Cally and in my experience in 'civvy street,' you have to make mistakes to learn from them .
Im sure on the Owners ticksheet , he will fill more boxes than most candidates , especially those with Gary Megson in their name .
