Hutchings Leaves Town
Thursday, 1st Nov 2012 09:51

Town have confirmed the immediate exit of Paul Jewell's assistant manager Chris Hutchings. Terry Connor has taken on his role under his former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.

The former Bradford, Wigan and Walsall boss, who leaves Town by mutual consent, told the club site: “I’ve enjoying working for this fantastic football club over the last 20 months.

“I’d like to wish the owner, the players and all the staff the very best of fortunes for the future. I’d also like to wish Mick and Terry the best of luck at Portman Road.”

Blues chief executive Simon Clegg added: “I’d like to thank Chris for his outstanding services to Ipswich Town and wish him well for the future.”

Hutchings was the Blues' caretaker-manager for Saturday's disastrous 3-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

There is as yet no news regarding Jewell's other coaches, Sean McCarthy and Mark Kennedy - who played for McCarthy with Millwall and for the Republic of Ireland - Andy Liddell or U18s coach Russell Osman, who was also appointed by Jewell.

Just keep Osman. The rest have been just as culpable as PJ and CH. Especially get rid of Sean McCarthy. Striking coach, my arse.

This guy had one throw of the dice to prove to us all that he had his own thoughts, just like Ian MacFarland did against Arsenal, when Keane got the Spanish Archer.

He could have been brave and changed it around, Moshni (or Smith) in at CB, Chambers moved over to RB (he played games there for Forest), Edwards pushed to right MF, two strikers up front. Instead he went out with a wimper like most of the team and got brushed aside by Wednesday. I can see why he got the sack at Walsall now.

Thanks but goodbye.

Reading through the sometimes embarrassing and undignified comments on this news topic makes you realise just what a bunch of juvenile lowlifes some of our supporters are.

I always feel a bit sorry for the Assistant Managers (and other back room staff) when the boss gets sacked. Good luck to Hutchings where ever he goes next.

Having to wade through some of the sh@t comments that some on this forum are spouting, I think I've worked out what the root cause of ITFC's problems are. We've changed managers, chairman, owners, players & staff, the only things left to change are the stadium, name & fans. I guess it must be the stadiums fault then.

Oh, and statistically Jewell/ Hutch were 14th out of 20 managers with a win ratio of around 34%. Not great but not as shabby as some of the drama queens would have you believe.

Oh and thank you Jewell and Hutchings for your tireless efforts to raise the standard of the football, improving the team spirit and giving the fans what they overpay for.

No surprise there when a 1-0 win against Arsenal wasn't enough to keep Ian McParland in a job!

All the best Chris and Paul, I reckon you should try your hand in the lower leagues.

Quite right that the fans have a chance to air their grievances towards that inept shambles of Jewell and Hutchings, who should have been shown the door months ago. Why pretend we wish them well, when they have been hansomely paid to wreck the club and are clearly both massive bluffers who have been found out at the Town fans expense. We should never forget the damage they caused. That makes me a "juvenile lowlife" I suppose.
