Youga Out to Win Extended Deal
Tuesday, 13th Nov 2012 16:57

New signing Kelly Youga says he is out to win an extended contract with the Blues. The 27-year-old former Charlton and Yeovil full-back put pen to paper on a short-term deal earlier today.

Youga told the club site that he is familiar with both the club and several of his new team-mates: “I have played against Ipswich many times and it’s a good club.

“I had the opportunity to come here on trial and now I’m here for two months. It’s a great chance for me and if I can stay longer than January, then I’d stay with pleasure.

“I know some of the players here already. Lee Martin was at Charlton when I was there and I know Bilel [Mohsni] and Guirane [N’Daw], from France. The French connection!

“I’m looking forward to my time here. I could have joined some clubs back home in France, clubs in the top division but I like England. This is where I want to play my football.”

Youga, who has played only 45 minutes of domestic competitive first-team football in the last three years due to injuries, is in the starting line-up for tonight’s Suffolk Premier Cup game at Walsham-le-Willows (KO 7.45pm).

Reserves: Loach, Hewitt, Youga, Hyam, Ainsley, Mohsni, Ellington, Drury, Scotland, Chopra, Emmanuel-Thomas. Subs: Crowe, Whight, Lawrence, Murray, Thorsteinsson.

I like this French Connection!

But he's played 45 minutes in 3 years?

Hopefully he plays tonight and Cresswell and Edwards can become the wingers they were born to be!

Just watched him on Youtube and he don't take any prisoners on the pitch thats for sure! I'm just a little bit concerned as he reminds me of Manu Thetis! Still Mick knows what he's doing I'm sure.

Welcome to the club.

However, I am struggling with the idea that we need yet another loanee, particularly one who has played so little in the last three years. Something must be dreadfully wrong with our youth system if we can't produce better in-house.

Maybe big mick knows theres still a posibility we may loose Cressy (i hope not) in jan so is trying to find cover early. 27 yr old not bad go prove yourself mate sure mick knows what hes doing COYB

He's not a loanee, we've signed him on a short term deal. Agree with you that his lack of game time is a little worrying, but I trust that MM knows what he's doing.

Must have done ok in his unreported trial at the club to earn this short term deal, so good luck to him.

When at Charlton was highly thought off and earned rave reviews.

Mick is the manager of the club and team and we are the supporters of the club and team.

In Mick we trust.

As posted futher up, he must have done well in trials to gain a short term contract! but then again i have not played for 40 years, i could well be in with a chance...in my dreams.
Good luck to the lad, hope he comes good!

Just watched a few minutes of this on youtube...seems to have a slightly strange tackling technique and well, maybe a little slow..! We might as well give him a go though. Cresswell could do a great job further forward, and he seems to really want to do well to win a longer deal

After watching that clip of him I'm not so sure lol
Christ, some of those tackles and he could see red today.
Does look slow but hey he could turn out ok.
Not going to say anymore until he plays a game.

Good luck to anyone who goes to Leicester at the weekend.
Wish I was going ;(

The lad certainly takes no prisoners ! If I'm not mistaken he even tackled one of his own players half way threw that clip. We're going to be hard to beat at this rate :-)
