Croft Whereabouts Mystery
Croft Whereabouts Mystery

Confusion surrounds the whereabouts of Town defender Gary Croft with the Prison Service saying he was released before the new Millennium whilst the club say he is due for release next week.

According to the prison Service Croft was released from Hollesley Bay Prison last week with an electronic tag after serving 20 days of his four-month sentence, two months of which was suspended. Town manager George Burley said today: "If Gary is out of prison that is news to me. I haven't heard anything".

As for his availability during the period of tagging Town are to ask the authorities if the tag can be removed during games.

Town manager George Burley has stated that Manu Thetis is still in the running for a place in the first team. The big Frenchman joined last season from Sevilla for a knock-down £50,000 and played a big part in the club reaching the play-offs but has only featured a couple of times in recent months.

Burley says that the form of John McGreal and Tony Mowbray has been excellent and that Manu is trying as hard as possible to win his place back.

Thetis was dropped from the side which met Charlton in October after a couple of notable errors in the previous game. On the night of the Charlton game the centre-half was seen angrily driving from the ground and there were rumours of a bust-up between him and Burley, a claim denounced by the manager, although still not discounted by many fans.

David Johnson is once again the target of Jamaica it seems. The striker, who has already had enough confusion surrounding him regarding his international future for several lifetimes, is now wanted for the CONCACAF Gold Cup next month.

Jamaican FA Secretary General Horace Reid said: "The door is still open to David. He is an exceptional talent who has established himself as one of the top players in his division."

With the claims of a Yardie threat presumably still in the striker's mind I think Town fans can feel sure that Johnson will not return to the nation for whom he has already played several friendlies.
