Season Ticket Prices Frozen
Thursday, 21st Mar 2013 09:24

Town have announced that they have frozen season ticket prices for a third successive season, although only for online sales, while they are introducing a three-year season ticket for the first time.

The freeze means that, for example, an adult lower tier Sir Bobby Robson Stand seat purchased online before the early bird deadline of midday on April 12th will cost £390.

There is an increase in pricing for those purchasing season tickets by methods other than online with the same Sir Bobby Robson lower tier seat costing £410.

The new three-year ticket in the same area costs £1,112, which works out at around £370 per season, a discount of about 5%.

The 12-month direct debit scheme introduced last season continues with those that utilised the facility during 2012/13 automatically renewed for 2013/14. Supporters aged under 11 years of age can again buy a season ticket for £10.

In the season ticket brochure, owner Marcus Evans writes that supporters will have a big part to play next season and paid tribute to manager Mick McCarthy's work since he came to the club in November: “Mick McCarthy’s performance since taking over as manager has been fantastic.

“Having taken over a team adrift at the bottom of the league, he has moulded a tough-to-beat and highly competitive team and if his results are multiplied over the course of the season, we are pretty close to play-off form.

“If next year is to be our year, we need everyone behind the team and for our fans to help make Portman Road a fortress.

“I am as committed as ever to getting the club promoted and Mick will be fully supported in his plans to develop the squad over the summer. We have the manager who can take us up and we need your support to get us there.

“In recognition of your support, the club will continue with its offer for season ticket holders in 2013/14 to be provided with half-price season tickets the following year, if we gain promotion to the Premiership.”

Existing season ticket holders will receive the usual season ticket packs by post in the next few days, while full details are on the club site here.

RetroBlue - you're absolutely right - it's all about 'clever marketing that suits' - and I don't mean the Supporters !

Much more could, and should be done to encourage youngsters into the ground and follow the Club - Under 11 (£10 S/T ) 0ver 11 (£110 S/T) - result we lose peole at age 11yrs - proves my point.

And does the Club care ???? - if they do - they could easily do something about it.

The game has changed - the Club has changed with it - UNFORTUNATELY.

This years package just shows what Evans thinks of us fans - basically loyal idiots! In what other walk of life would you stump up money for a season ticket not knowing which league you will be in next year. Its like paying for a holiday but it could be a week in the south of France or a week in Frinton! As loyal fans, Evans should have extended the renew deadline until the end of April in order that we can see what we buying into next year.

I also do not like the fact that renewal is via internet otherwise a stealth tax is added to the price. Evans should should be bending over backwards in how we pay having watched dross ever since he took over, not putting up barriers for those who do not want to pay by internet or indeed do not have access to a computer.

Three year season ticket what a farce, we could be in league 1 for next three seasons, just four points above relagation after having our keeper recalled, it looks a bit dodgy.

Say what you want about Sheepshanks, at least he was Town through and through, Evans and sons are merely business men. Evans a Town fan - pull the other one!

Overall this has been a very disappointing effort by the club, especially if MM gets £1m to keep us up. If we go down, how about sharing the £1m between the season ticket holders £1m between 12,000 fans = £83,33 each!

I cannot believe the club would turn down £277, which is in effect what they are doing. I have to pay another £14 to send a check, which I will not be doing. A very angry pensioner.

I'll stick to non-league football at £10.00 per game. More atmosphere and you can drink in the ground. What could be better. Come on Bury!!!
