McGowan to Stay at St Mirren
Saturday, 1st Jun 2013 13:40

Reported Town target Paul McGowan is set to sign a new contract with his current club St Mirren. A number of English sides were believed to be interested in the 25-year-old with the Blues claimed to be one of those in the chase earlier in the week.

Buddies boss Danny Lennon told the Daily Record:"Things are looking promising and hopefully in the next 24 hours Paul will have committed himself to the club.

"It's great news because most St Mirren fans were resigned to losing him and I must admit I was resigned to losing him as well.

"But he called me two or three nights ago and we arranged a meeting that lasted a couple of hours.

"My assistant, Tommy Craig, was involved and it went very well. Paul told us he's committed to us and we're delighted to hear that.

"Everything has been done verbally and hopefully the positive news will be confirmed very soon."

The majority of us won't have seen him play anyway so not a massive blow. Plenty more players available.

All these players linked, either staying at present clubs or going elsewhere, hope this summer ain't going to be like any other itfc pre-season.a bloody anti-climax! I know it's early but just don't want us left with the dregs in late July/August. Patience name of the day I suppose!

You wouldnt see this many broken links in the tour de france.I know its early but you have to get your house in order early .When you see the teams above us this season and the play off games those teams were not a million miles ahead of us.The differance was they were settled, had ballance, Im sure mick knows what is needed so ignore links and trust in mick.

Perhaps McGowan failed to make a good enough impression!

No idea if he is any good but if he is happy to stay in Scottish football, at his age, when he has the opportunity to move up to the Championship he has minimal ambition.

Move on!
