Wycombe's Grant Joins Yeovil
Wednesday, 26th Jun 2013 16:14

Newly-promoted Yeovil Town have announced that Blues target Joel Grant has agreed to join them on a two-year deal.

Grant, whose contract at Wycombe Wanderers is up at the end of the month, is understood to have been offered terms by Town, while League Two Portsmouth were also amongst the other interested clubs.

Speaking on Monday, manager Mick McCarthy played down his interest in Grant and Blackpool's out-of-contract defender Kirk Broadfoot.

Meanwhile, ex-Blue Nathan Ellington is training with Crewe Alexandra as he looks to extend his stay with the Railwaymen. The 31-year-old spent the final couple of months of last season at Gresty Road having been exited Town by mutual consent in January.

Elsewhere, ex-Town loanee Liam Rosenior has agreed a two-year extension to his contract with newly-promoted Hull City.

Pretty sure that if Mick lost out on a proper target to Yeovil he would announce his own resignation. In fact, we may as well all resign from ITFC if that came out.

He sounds just like the kind of player we like, one who wants to play rather than just be in a squad. So why are you knocking him for that while also slating players who are happy taking wages without playing?

....... mushrooms - my dear Watson ....... !!

No one can deny the fact that we need a Grant 'type of player' - and also a Goalkeeper as it still stands.
Without which we could easily be found wanting come the start of the season.

No doubt someone will disagree with that even.

I hope we never properly offered him a deal because if we lose out to Yeovil on a player it could be another relegation battle...even though skybet placed us at 5/1 to for promotion and 5/4 for the play-offs

Didn't he see our nicely painted turnstiles?

Ipswichbusiness - obviously not - I'm sure that could well have been the turning point.

I think the player (if he really was offered terms) was actually afraid to join us , as he may have felt the Club too big for him and doubted he could 1. ever break into the 1st team, 2. didnt feel up to the competition he would be uo against.

Either way , what the reason, he obviously will be no loss as any player not up for the challenge is one that will always underachieve. Good Luck to him at Yeovil though.

thebeat - you're right - if we didn't make him an offer - then fine.

But IF we did !!! - not one of should be happy with the outcome.

Only interested in players we've signed not players joining other clubs! Ipswich still a good pull for players to join but for one thing and that's money! Players always go to clubs that offer the most money, but on this occasion(if true) he went to possibly get more game time, fair play, let's move on.

h32...Oh no we are all going to hell in a handcart! We're doomed I tell ya! Good grief get a grip. So some second rate no mark who we may or may not have been linked with has signed for Yeovil. Whoppee... Next!

JWM - Why the 'second rate no mark' (whatever that means) comment ?? - a typical personally vinditive comment about the player which is unnecessary.

This is typical of the point I make about some of our supporters - as I keep preaching 'see it as it is' and don't make excuses, because in doing so, the Club will just keep rolling along in the Championship for another 12 years or so - without progress.

And don't think MM will be around to see it happen - because he won't.

No one has ever heard of him before all this speculation so he is a no mark! You always seem to want to be negative about everything when infact there is far more to be positive about ahead of this season then for many years.

JWM - .............. really. !!!!!!

JWM - Would he have been a 'no mark' in your view had he signed for us today ???? - of course NOT.

I rest my case.

JWM added 18:59 - Jun 26
Go on h32 be happy! You know you want to really! Have a bit of faith because lets face it that is all part and parcel of being a supporter. Who knows you might enjoy it more if you were a bit more positive about things,

compared to those that have signed for us he is a no body. move on, far better around, and lets only get players who want to play for us.

Whatever gets you through the day h32.. I prefer to trust in Mick and be positive rather than being negative but it takes all sorts.
