JET: O'Driscoll a Big Factor
Monday, 8th Jul 2013 17:22

Former Blues midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas says the chance to work under Sean O’Driscoll at Bristol City was a big influence on his decision to join the Robins. The 22-year-old, who completed a swap involving winger Paul Anderson earlier today, previously played for O’Driscoll during a loan spell at Doncaster while an Arsenal player.

Emmanuel-Thomas said: "He had a big influence on my decision to come here as I know how he likes to play and I know what he expects of me.

"I had a really good spell with him at Doncaster. I thought by returning to him I could get back to how I was."

The former Gunners youngster tweeted his thanks to everyone at Portman Road: “Thank you to all the people at Ipswich Town Football Club who helped me along the way. Wish you all the best.”

Meanwhile, keeper Owain Fon Williams has signed a new two-year deal with his current club Tranmere, despite interest from the Blues and other Championship clubs this summer.

Rovers boss Ronnie Moore said: “Owain has had two really good seasons with Tranmere, so I’m pleased he will be staying with us

“He’s turned down good offers from the Championship to stay with us, which shows how committed he is to doing well here.”

Earl60 that is a very harsh comment, think back to last November when we were adrift at the bottom of the league and going one way. Mick deserves better remarks than this and look forward to hearing from you in 9 months time.

Blues1 I wonder if you actually have ever seen a good Ipswich team and I have seen Anderson play and he was OK, nothing else. i do think MM is totally restricted by ME on his budget but I do like some of his signings ie Nouble and Wordsworth who I hope will be able to bring a bit o class into the team.4

Phil, hats off to you. When you broke this story, I said it wouldnt happen as I didn't think JET would drop down to League One!

hegansheroes, ive missed just 5 home games in the past 40 years so yes ive not only seen a good Ipswich team, but ive seen the best team weve ever had or ever will have. you say Anderson was ok but nothing else when you saw him? was that just 1 game youre talking about? best to judge the response of other teams fans and managers to decide if hes any good. ive seen him on several occasions both live and on tv, and has always played well. ok, hes not a worldbeater but then, theres not 1 worldbeater playing in the championship and never will be. woiuld rather him, working his socks off than jet strolling around like he doesn't give a toss, and producing one moment of magic in god knows how many games. im disappointed it turned out that way too, as was quite excited by us signing him. just didn't work out. I believe thaytanderson will give us more regardless of how well he plays because hell work his socks off even when not at his best
