Anderson: That One Was Definitely Mine!
Monday, 7th Oct 2013 06:00

Midfielder Paul Anderson was delighted to score a Town goal which was genuinely his as the Blues drew 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The summer signing from Bristol City’s first official goal for the Blues against Millwall in August probably ought to have gone down as an own goal by Lions’ defender Mark Beevers, but there was no doubt about his 12th minute strike at Hillsborough.

“This one was definitely mine!” he joked. “I’m delighted to get the point for the team. Didsy put it on a plate for me.

“I had a bit too much time which I prefer not to have because they’re missable and you can look stupid, but I got a great connection and fortunately I put us in front.”

He added: “It was a bit of a surprise because they didn’t seem to have any defenders, which was strange!

"But, we’ll take it, any team which gives us an opportunity like that we’ll try our best to take it.”

Although admitting that he’s not a prolific marksman, the 25-year-old says he’ll be aiming to get on the scoresheet regularly throughout the season: “I’ll be looking to get plenty of goals.

"I always like to get as many as possible, but I know my strengths are working hard, getting back in and doing all the defensive duties.

“But I’m always there or thereabouts to get on the scoresheet and hopefully I can squeeze towards double figures.”

Overall, he was happy enough with the draw against the Owls: “I think Sheffield Wednesday are one of those teams you need to scrap against, so we’re delighted to get the point.”
