Town forgotten man Adam Tanner is today in the midst of new controversy. The former drugs ban man was yesterday charged at Chelmsford Magistrates Court with drink-driving and failing to stop.

The 26-year-old centre-half was arrested on November 18th in Witham, Essex and will appear in court once more on February 21st. Town manager George Burley said that Tanner had been in a London rehabilitation clinic at some point since his arrest and that Town were less than happy with the situation.

Burley said: "Evidence that has come out as a result of his being charged with drink-driving is giving us further cause for concern and I shall be speaking to Adam."

With his contract up at the end of the season and no place anywhere near the first team this could be the final straw for Tanner. Town stood by him throughout his three months drug ban for taking cocaine but are unlikely to do the same a second time.

Tanner isn't the only player at Town presently causing annoyance to managers. Trialist Soren Frederiksen has got on the wrong side of Leicester manager Martin O'Neill after leaving a £300 hotel bill behind him in Leicester.

Frederiksen was on trial at Filbert Street prior to coming to Portman Road. The £300 was built up in a three-day period for room service, telephone calls and sunbed sessions. O'Neill said of the spendthrift Scandinavian: "Can you imagine what it would be like if we kept him for a week?"

The player's agent is reported to be picking up the tab. However, Town should beware if we don't want to see the remainder of the Kieron Dyer money going to the Novotel for sunbeds, massages and trans-European phonecalls!
