Town are confident that they can keep hold of young striker Dean Bowditch. Last week we reported interest from Manchester United in the England U16 star, but Town have already offered him a professional contract.

Boss George Burley is hopeful that Bowditch will sign on the line: "I have spoken to Dean and his parents and offered him a contract four or five weeks ago. Nothing has changed and we are waiting a decision. We are hopeful that Dean will stay with us. I understand he loves it at Ipswich and his parents are very happy about the way he is being looked after here."

Should Bowditch choose to join Manchester United the the Blues would be entitled to compensation.
