Ebanks-Blake Can't Wait to Get Back in Action
Friday, 20th Dec 2013 17:14

Town signing Sylvan Ebanks-Blake can’t wait to return to action after almost nine months on the sidelines through injury.

The Cambridge-born striker is at Portman Road until the end of the season and is keen to make an impact as soon as possible following the most inactive spell of his career.

Ebanks-Blake, who broke his leg and damaged ankle ligaments in Wolves’ 3-2 win at Birmingham on April 1st this year, admitted: “It has been tough.

“But I’m a positive person and I’ve remained positive the whole time. I knew I would get back to playing, which was the main thing, and now I am back. Wolves looked after me and looked after my rehab from start to finish. I have a lot of respect for the staff there.

“I’m fine, I’ve been training well and I feel good. I have to get match fit, of course, and the only way I’m going to do that is by playing. Once I play some games I’ll be match fit. I’m not far off because I’ve looked after myself.

“I’ve jumped straight in here and done what the rest of the lads have been doing then I’ve done some extra work in the gym afterwards. It’s been fine because I’ve taken my time and didn’t try to rush it.

“Although it’s difficult being out of contract it allowed me to do things in my own time without the pressure of being at a club.

"I was training with the reserves at Wolves, doing a bit of football work there for four weeks, and I was with the physios for three or four weeks prior to that.”

Ebanks-Blake netted twice in the game at Birmingham, taking his goal tally for the season to 15 and 63 in total for Wolves, who were relegated to League One without him.

He is determined to be scoring regularly once he is considered fit enough to make his Town debut and he added: “I just like to score goals and my record shows that. Any striker judges himself on how many goals he gets, no matter what they are good or bad at, and I’m no different.”
