Quartet Return for Millwall Trip
Thursday, 16th Jan 2014 14:52

Boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Aaron Cresswell, Luke Chambers, Cole Skuse and Daryl Murphy will all be fine for Saturday’s trip to Millwall, however, skipper Carlos Edwards and Tyrone Mings are doubts with knocks suffered at Preston.

Cresswell was suffering with fluid on his knee, Chambers with a tight hamstring, Skuse from a dead leg and Murphy from a thigh injury, all four missing the FA Cup replay defeat at Deepdale.

“Cressy and Chambo are fine, they’ve trained today," McCarthy said. "But, as I explained, they’d just got little niggling injuries and I wasn’t going to risk them. They’re fine, they both trained.

“Skusey’s trained today, fine. Murph has had his first day back with the squad and he’s fine, he’s all right.”

Midfielder Luke Hyam is also OK, despite suffering a knock at Preston, but McCarthy says Edwards, one of the standout performers on Tuesday, and Mings are doubts: “Ty hasn’t trained and Carlos hasn’t and I thought Carlos was one of the real bright spots at right-back. I thought he was excellent.

“He got a kick above his knee but I expect him to be OK. Tyrone got a really nasty bang to his foot, he had the sole of his foot kicked, which is always a sore one. We’ll see how he is tomorrow, whether he trains.”

Striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake also remains sidelined and the Town boss doesn’t expect him to return to action before the end of the month: “You won’t be seeing him before the end of January, that’s for sure, because he needs to get his injury right, strengthen his hamstring up and then make some real progress. He’s got some work on then to get himself really fit.

“And if we see him for February, March and April, if we see the best of him during those months, it’ll be great.”

Midfielder Anthony Wordsworth is unlikely to be in the 18 having returned to training earlier this week after suffering with tonsillitis.

Think you need to change 'Hyam' to Chambers in first para Phil.

Good news, should improve our chances for Saturday. Wander if we will quickly sign a defender or loan one, or recall Hewitt, as we only have 4 fit defenders, including Chambers and Cresswell coming back from small injurys. Need more cover!

Please don't put any pictures of Cresswell in the news Phil until the transferwindow closes. Almost suffered from cardiac arrest egen I saw it in my phone before scrolling down to see the headline.
This time I'm very pleased with the contence of the article though. Good news. Now I hope we can make the best of it versus Millwall. Three points would be the perfect way to bounce back.

Massive boost having these 4 back. Wonder if we will start with Murphy up front or keep it as McGoldrick, Taylor and Anderson, worked quite well against QPR in the first half. Millwall will be up for it, Holloway's first home game but they are down the bottom for a reason. COYB!

Murphy has to play, missed him a lot against qpr as we had no outlet and it was easy for their hot and hope defenders

agree with above post, this will be a toughy and we don't have a particularly good record there. Hopefully Anderson will be back on the bench, he's not good enough and like to see Tunnicliffe starting to show he can start to produce in games.

Glad Murph is back we really miss him attacking and defending corners.

Good news, will need all those four for what will now be a tough game. Few weeks ago would have fancied us for three points but as Holloway's first home match it will now be much harder, but if we are serious about grabbing a play off spot we need at the very least a point.
