Fulham Tunnicliffe Move Unlikely
Thursday, 30th Jan 2014 15:09

Fulham’s signing of Danish international William Kvist on loan from Stuttgart has ended their interest in Town’s on-loan Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe, we understand.

Earlier today it was reported that Cottagers boss René Meulensteen was set to make a joint bid for Tunnicliffe and his Red Devils team-mate Larnell Cole, players he previously worked with during his spell as Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant at Old Trafford.

But, although Fulham have kept a close eye on Tunnicliffe during his loan spell with the Blues, we understand they have not firmed up their interest and the addition of Kvist, a central midfielder of a similar style, means a move for the 21-year-old is now unlikely.

Tunnicliffe has been a regular in the Town side since joining on loan in August, making 24 starts and five sub appearances. He extended his spell until the end of the season earlier this month.

The January transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday evening.

I might get slaughtered for this but I think Tunnicliffe's a bit over rated. I don't even think he's been one of our top 5 or 6 players of the season so far so I find it odd that he's being linked with Fulham. I still wouldn't want to see him leave though as Mick obviously rates him and he's played a lot of games for us.

He's done ok but to be honest I wouldn't sign him for next year so to be linked with a premier league club is quite laughable

He's done okay this season. I think you're all forgetting how many young players of his age, improve greatly season to season. I wouldn't be surprised if he does too.

Whereas older players tend to do the reverse.

Agree with some of the comments. He has done OK. Still would prefer him to see out the season with us. A settled side is important. He is a player who should improve. Hopefully he can do that with us and score a few goals.

while he hasn't played brilliantly the whole of the time hes been here(how many youngsters actually do). now hes had a couple of games in the centre hes really begun to show what hes about. was excellent against reading and given mom against leeds. yes, his passing can let him down at times, but with the exception of hunt is the only midfielder we have who runs at the opposition. as for all the criticism over paul green. ridiculous. hes a decent player who was much sought after when he left derby. ok, it hasn't worked out for him at leeds but doesn't make him a bad player all of a sudden
