Ticket Book for Aborted Season Up for Auction Tuesday, 4th Mar 2014 09:16 An Ipswich Town season ticket book with a difference is up for sale at Lockdales, the Martlesham auctioneers, on March 16th. It is for the 1939/40 season and there are two tickets missing. These are for the home games with Bristol Rovers on August 30th (2-0) and Norwich City (1-1) on September 2nd. Soon after, the season was cancelled after war was declared. Auction manager James Sadler, a Town season ticket holder, said: “This is a very, very rare piece of Town memorabilia. The book contains 50 unused tickets with just the two missing.” The catalogue for the two-day auction, which also includes 1930s Town player George Perrett’s memorabilia, can be found here.
