Chambers: Jonny Staying's a Massive Boost Saturday, 5th Apr 2014 06:00 Luke Chambers believes Town’s chances of qualifying for the play-offs have improved “massively” with the news that loanee Jonny Williams is staying on board for the remainder of the season. Skipper Chambers admitted that he and his colleagues said their farewells after last week’s 1-1 home draw with Nottingham Forest, expecting Crystal Palace would recall the Welsh international midfielder to aid their Premier League survival battle. Chambers said: “We had a little chat in the dressing room after the Forest game and we thought it was dead in the water and that he would definitely be going back. “We all said our goodbyes and then we’ve come in on Monday and there he was again. We are all absolutely delighted and as far as I’m concerned he’s been brilliant since he’s been here. It massively improves our chances. “He gives us that something different and he’s probably the link between the rest of the team and the attack. He scored a great goal against Derby and we’re pleased to have him on board, hopefully for the rest of the season. I hope Palace won’t be using that 24-hour recall clause.” But while Williams’s continued presence has pleased everyone at Portman Road, as well as the supporters, Chambers feel it is important that the 20-year-old is not asked to shoulder too much responsibility. He added: “I think Jonny’s the type of character who knows he’s appreciated by the rest of the lads. We made him very welcome from the first minute he stepped in the door and he seems to be enjoying himself here. “He’s very relaxed around everyone and he knows that you can’t play well every week or win the game every week. We don’t expect that from him but if he continues to do what he has done since he arrived here we will all be delighted.”
