Ex-Canary Wyatt Agrees Pro Deal With Town
Friday, 16th May 2014 21:01

Former Norwich City academy left-back Ben Wyatt has revealed that he has agreed a one-year pro deal with Town. The 18-year-old spent time on trial with the Blues towards the end of the season and featured for the U21s.

Wyatt, who completed his two-year scholarship with the Canaries this season, tweeted: “It would have been good to stay [at Norwich] but the club decided otherwise! I'd like to say thanks to everyone for their support personally over eight years.

“But my main focus now is at my new club and I am delighted to sign my first pro contract at Ipswich Town! I feel this is a great opportunity.”

Born in Norwich, Wyatt was in the Canaries’ FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2012/13, having been with them since their U11s. Earlier this year, he spent time training with the England U18s.

Earlier today, Blues second-year scholar Omar Sowunmi also agreed a one-year pro deal at Portman Road..

Meanwhile, Leeds have confirmed Town loanee Paul Green's release at the end of his contract. Blues boss Mick McCarthy has said he'll weigh-up whether to offer the Republic of Ireland international terms later in the summer.

He saw sense in the end, that's all that matters. Hopefully he will shine for us.

Roller coaster, I belive no compensation is due because "they" didn't offer him a contract. He was in effect released. I went to school in Norfolk and I definitely had a Wyatt in my year, not this one I might add. I'm too old but a relation perhaps. Eirher best of luck young man. Hopefully a legend

Funny comments on here-ArnieM -given a chance if good enough?? Given a chance if you run a lot, can hoof the ball anywhere &pass sideways or backwards. If you have any skill, then no chance.

I like him much better already. Welcome and good luck. Let's hope we develop him and he tries hard.

Give the lad a chance. He deserves that at least. Hopefully will turn out to be a star for us. We seem to be investing in youth which can only be a good thing long term.

I wish him well. Clearly not a first team player, but would like to see promising young players develop.

Joe Royle also had Norwich connections, he was great for the Town. It is like the Sol Campbell THFC/AFC thing, or Carragher on Merseyside. Not saying he'll have the same effect, but, with Sowunmi yesterday, another good, young, hungry player signed (defenders, too). Very encouraging

Hegansheroes - as I have said before, if you don't like the less attractive, but more functional football, vote with your feet

Well let's hope that these guys are given a chance at first team football at some point.

If you ever watch football you will know that the best teams ( that means any above Nodge ) play more passes sideways and backwards than forward . In a recent top club euro cup game ) I checked it out and they played on average 2.9 passes backwards or sideways to every 1 forward . That is what is called possession !

Sounds like a good prospect who will be highly motivated to prove the carrot crunchers were wrong to let him go.

meekreech - possesion counts for nothing, if you can't stick the ball away into the opposition net.
An improvement to the midfield is an utmost priority for our future achievements.
